I once listened to this song for 32 hours straight catching up on my assignments that I later failed.

When I was 12 I asked my German teacher about what “Komme Süsser Todd” meant and she was like “wtf are you ok?”

This is like the japanese version of when you find a cheery non-english song only to find out the lyrics are sad and depressive

Listening to this tonight as the 3DS eShop goes down. End of an era.

I like how violins start going insane, marking the slow driving to insanity

Even without the context, the melody of this song is so goddamn depressing. Not even in a cold way, in a very raw and emotional way. It hurts, man.

“It is what it is” mfs after witnessing the most traumatic, hellish, disturbing, gruesome, painful, life altering, tragic, horrific, nightmarish, world ending, and unforgettable moment of their life:

And that’s how music kicks in

This song reminds me of the feeling that some people get when they’ve decided to commit suicide. They will suddenly become super energetic and appear happy because they know that they won’t be alive soon, so all of their stress is relieved and they can do whatever they want. The song is super upbeat and sounds similar to a church song, but if you take 5 seconds to think about the lyrics you realize how dark the whole thing is.

i'm a hospice worker and one time i had this 96 year old patient; i played this for her and she said it reminded her of the dissolution of yugoslavia

honestly the “tumbling down” part is so similar to the “hey jude” corus that it brings me joy

I looked at all the comments and some people in the comments are as desperate as shinji at the end of evangelion I even saw people telling that it was the perfect music to commit suicide so I hope that if someone reads this message he’s fine even if all goes wrong around him it makes me sad and happy at the same time to see that I’m not there only person listened to this music because I’m sad

Shinji isn't depressed at the end. He made the decision to return his soul into a body and give it another shot. That takes courage, and strength, and willpower. He realized that if we all disappear into one big formless pool of life, then that absolute freedom actually is actually a kind of nihilism. So, he chose imperfect human life instead, with all its pain and tragedy, because it is full of real meaning.

"I'm happy" mfs at 5:25 AM staring at the ceiling, surrounded by nothing but their own thoughts (I'm mfs)(it's actually 5:25am rn)

I know I shouldn't watch Evangelion when I am down, or listen to this song 24/7

But somehow this song makes me feel that everything will be okay someday although everything is tumbling down around me.
This show is often called depressive, pessimistic and bleak, but I always read it into a story of characters that will stand in the face of the hardest kind of adversity.

When I heard that Anno described EVA as "a story where the main character witnesses many horrors with his own eyes, but still tries to stand up again. It is a story of will; a story of moving forward, if only just a little." It was exactly how I saw the series

Something where no matter what people will try to get up on their feet despite facong the most horrible time of their life, this is why I love this show
