Remove Deleted Items from Slicers & Pivot Tables - EQ 83

How to remove items from a Slicer that are not actually in the data set that the Slicer filters.

This becomes important once you start deleting values from your data source for a Table or Pivot Table.

I really don't know why Excel makes us go through the step of changing settings in order to make this work, and I don't know why this is default behaviour for Slicers and Pivot Tables, but, at least its an easy problem to solve.

Thank you very much. When I tried it the deleted items were not cleared immediately. In case someone encounters this...
Refresh didn't work so I looked for possible obstacles. I had some filters on other slicers turned on. I cleared them to show all the data, and the deleted slicer items were cleared. Seems other filters being on interfered with the slicer clear/refresh of values. Case closed. 😄

that's useful if we want to hide it but how to remove it permanently from the list not only to hide it, for example when you mistakenly inputting data that's not supposed to be there?
