Honestly, hearing these (hopefully true) rumors make me happy. Because it's exactly what I want: power parity with past and current generation consoles (PS4, PS5, Xbox One X, Xbox Series), while maintaining the "originality" of the Switch.

Nintendo and Nvidia have a real ace up their sleeves with DLSS and a huge advantage over Sony / Microsoft and AMD.

The Switch is about halfway between the PS3 and PS4, in terms of real-world performance.
So realistically, I expect the "Switch 2" to be about halfway between PS4 and PS5.
Yes, it will be perfectly capable of running PS5/Series X ports at lower settings, just as the Switch received games like Doom Eternal and The Witcher 3.

This sounds good. As a person who has the steam deck, it seems like the switch 2 will be leaps and bounds more powerful than it. But it makes sense, the switch 2 needs a really long life cycle unlike the deck where valve can just make a new one on the fly, and the chipset is newer by 2 years.

The DLSS 3.5 part was removed from the VGC article since this video was recorded, but the DLSS part remained. Likewise, this doesn’t mention a big part of the Eurogamer article: Nintendo is hoping to release the Switch 2 earlier in 2024 than the originally-reported Late 2024 timeframe (if it’s feasible for them).

Honestly, I don’t have much expectation in the power department of Switch 2 and I’m fine with that. I’m extremely happy with the current Switch, despite the dated techs and how behind it is to the other consoles.

However, after hearing this, I’m getting more hyped now about how powerful it could be! It’d be a dream come true to see 1st party games running as good as they can as well as having decent ports of 3rd party ones!

I’m excited to see improved backward titles as well. That will definitely motivate me to go back and 100% some titles like Astral Chain!

As well as Switch is doing, all of its strengths combined with the power and multi-platform library of the competition would be absolutely dangerous and be a must have console.

This gets me excited for backwards compatibility, getting patches for certain Switch games like Tears of the Kingdom and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that increase the framerate and resolution would be a reason to get it at launch. That also would make it possible for Nintendo to still support the Switch with ports/smaller titles that will run better on Switch 2.

I made this comment else where but I have read several sources claiming these main points:
1. The new name is Nintendo Focus.
2. When Dock its hitting 4K, and on par (power wise) with a Series S.
3. When Handheld its 1080p and power wise sits between PS4/PS4Pro.
4. The pricing is $399USD for a LED screen and $449USD for an OLED Screen.

2:23 WOW if Switch sucessor can run the Matrix demo and is compared to current gen consoles, imagine how the next 3D Mario would look, with visuals compared to it movie, Metroid Prime 4 would look amazing on Nintendo next hardware

DLSS will define the look of Switch 2 Ports the way 900p defines the look of Switch 1 ports

I think it’s worth pointing out that just because Nintendo can build a device with those capabilities, that doesn’t mean they will actually manufacture and sell that device. Nintendo is pretty price-conscious and wants to make a profit off of every unit sold. They may not be able to sell something that powerful at a price-point they are comfortable with.

This kinda sounds too good to be true to be honest. I think something like the camera feature sounds like something Nintendo would be doing since it's more up their creative quirky business mindset but I dont expect them to focus on power and be up to par with Series X and PS5. Would be absolutely amazing though, especially for backwards compatibility. Imagine OG Switch games being able to play in 4K with improved framerate. Like Tears of the Kingdom or Link's Awakening would look amazing like that
