Port Strike ALERT: 25,000 Workers Set to Shut Down U.S. Imports!

A massive port strike is about to hit the U.S., and it could have serious consequences for truckers. Beginning October 1, 2024, 25,000 workers at 13 key East and Gulf Coast ports are planning to strike, potentially shutting down 43% of all U.S. imports. For truckers, this isn't just about dockworkers striking – it’s about your paycheck, your loads, and your livelihood.

Ports like Savannah and Houston bring in critical freight: cars, electronics, clothing, food, and the parts that keep America’s factories running. Retailers are scrambling to bring in goods before the shutdown, and some are shifting shipments to West Coast ports. But with such a huge portion of U.S. imports on the line, the ripple effects could be massive.

If the strike goes forward, it means fewer loads to haul, longer wait times at ports, and possible delays in getting paid. Retailers might not get their holiday shipments on time, and factories could shut down because parts won't arrive – all of this means fewer loads for truckers. This could lead to job losses, fewer miles driven, and more competition for the remaining freight.

The National Association of Manufacturers warns that without parts and supplies, assembly lines will grind to a halt. As a trucker, this directly impacts the freight you haul and your earnings. With rail congestion and delays already happening, the freight market could become even tighter if this strike hits.

Stay ahead by knowing how this port strike will affect the loads you haul and your income. Truckers, carriers, and owner-operators – this is the news you need to protect your business and keep your wheels turning.

Rates have been terrible for the last 3 years. Truckers need to strike as well.

Once again….us truck drivers, company drivers and owner operators, sitting and twiddling our thumbs while people demand more pay because they can all be on the same page. Who, who is going to step up and yell out load and represent us as truck drivers and stop the embarrassing pay for ALL truck drivers. Its criminal the way we get paid and it will continue until a mega actor, politician or sports athlete uses their platform to get us all to turn off the truck, not move a company truck and tell all owners of trucking companies we are done and NOTHING is going to move. When are we going to wake up and tell these shippers and brokers that truck drivers need to be paid a respectable wage and stop treating us like we are workers from the mid 50’s.

A patient care tech makes $13-$15 an hour. Has to bathe, spoon feed, clean patients with a loose stool all day 12-14 hours. These individuals are money hungry to hang out at gentlemen club, tavern, and other things that are unlawful. They did this during COVID. Multiple merchant ships just floated for weeks at long Beach and other seaports. Be happy with what you have.

I’m sure this will sound ignorant, but I’m not super familiar with the shipping industry. what types of products do you think will be on shortage and how do you think this will affect the average person?

Congress will force them to work just like the railroad workers for national interest.😂😂😂

How are these rates great? When you need to be at 2.20 to break even! You should be making at least 8k in 7 days to actually make something!!

It always keeps me curious, that most, if not all trucker's are non union when entering and exiting ports. Consider all the union port workers, you would think that they would require the drivers to be Union??
