Before Jesus left us His church, He poured out His Spirit during Pentecost to birth His church. About 150 were filled with the Holy Spirit, not just His Apostles. Even today, His true church (the heavenly church) consists of all who are truly born from above and filled with His Spirit. The earthly church is not so, since it consists of wheat and tares.

Plus, I read nowhere in the Word of God, that Mary was a Diety. Her soul is in Heaven, her Earthly remains are still here on Earth. She was a sinner in need of salvation, just like everyone else who ever lived. She could never be seen, or ever hear anything from anyone, here on Earth, ever. She is to be respected as the Woman God chose to be the Mother of our Savior and Lord. Praying to her or any other "saint" is nothing more than Idolatry and worshipping false gods. They can't and never will hear anything, they are in Heaven Worshipping God.

If an out-of-this-world being comes to tell you to build an altar and pray to it, and pray just a little bit to God, then it would be wise and Scriptural to first see what God says about these things.

Catholic : No problem. We'll continue to worship Mary, but we'll just call in veneration and that will make it ok.

Fun fact: Venerate comes from the Latin root venerārī, which has the various meanings of "to solicit the good will of, " *"to worship, "* "to pay homage to, " and "to hold in awe." That *root is related to Venus, * which, as a proper noun, is the name of the Roman *goddess of love and beauty.*
