Virgin Mary Predicts Sun Falling from the Sky
[Un-] Explained: Debunking the weird and wonderful in (about) two minutes!

Transcript
Did 70,000 worshipers see the sun fall from the sky?
13 October 1917, Fatima, Portugal: Over the previous months three shepherd children have witnessed apparitions of the Virgin Mary. She tells them they will witness a miracle today. A huge crowd gathers then - the rain clouds part and sun dances, changes colours, zig zags and spins. The crowd gasps in awe. Photographs appear in newspapers around the world.
Thirteen years later the events are recognized as a miracle by the Catholic Church.
Tens of thousands of worshippers witnessed a divine miracle that day.
Or did they?
The initial stories of the apparition of Mary came from the imaginations of three isolated Catholic children. Pressed to confess to their lies the children dug in and stuck to their story. By the time things had got out of hand there were thousands of worshippers waiting, watching for a miracle. The fact that they were worshippers points to a preconditioned crowd actively wanting for a miracle.
One of the children shouted to look at the sun but observatories around the world reported no suspicious solar behaviour. Worshippers did report the sun dancing, changing colours, zig zagging and spinning - but these are actually conflicting reports from different worshippers. Half of those there said they saw nothing.
Photographs of the event do not show any abnormal solar activity. They do show people looking in various directions, if this miracle did occur it clearly was not attention grabbing enough. Those gathered who stared at the sun blinded themselves with temporary solar retinopathy hence the reports of the dancing sun. Many more, through the pressure of crowds, falsely collaborated the story.
But there’s more… Watch our Secrets of Fatima video for a debunking of the messages of doom given to the three children by the Virgin Mary and the Vatican’s 80 year cover up.
