I like how "pathetically" hikaru dies, in constrast to the sheer evil deeds he had committed. I also likes how his last thought is still murder, some people cannot be redeemed.

The fact that Goro’s spirit is the first to appear makes me think that the ghost hands are all the people Hikaru has killed, directly or indirectly, but in chronological order. Goto was his “first” murder even if he didn’t kill him directly.

I've read manga like these countless times. Truth be told, In my opinion, he's not gonna die. Either Ai will see him, or he'll wake up in a hospital with Ruby cry'in. I'll be colored in shock if he REALLY DOES die...

Great chapter, but I believe he really won’t die. Rather I think this chapter being called (Aqua Hoshino) is to symbolize what he has done the whole story. One Aqua completing what he set out to do from the start and dying for the true Aqua to be reborn and live in peace. I think Crow girl or what would be better is Ai saving him. Him finally completing his purpose for her coming full circle. Think he will go into some sort of state where she will come to him and talk to him, telling him how proud she is and much she loves him and pushes him back to life, waking him up. But Especially on a 2 week break, seems like a long time for him just to die when we are suppose to think he is already going to. W chapter

The contrast is important, Hikaru going down full of regrets and burden by his sins while Aqua makes peace and accepts his fate.

Something I thought of is how Goro being a doctor whose duty is to 'save lives' is also like lived through in his present life as Aqua. He may have had to take the life of Hikaru to save Ruby but he still managed to save a life. It's also probably a way for Aqua to kind of avenge Ai by saving Ruby.

Oh and he saved Akane too in a way...

Honestly, I don't care whether Aqua lives or dies. HOWEVER, with all these people saying that Aqua will be fine and the Crow Girl will save him, to me, it would be SO FUNNY if after the two week break, at the start of chapter 163, the Crow Girl just does nothing but yap how you can only get reincarnated once, and Aqua's just dead at the bottom of the ocean with his father. This would be an insane case of Aka trolling us as if Aqua was gonna live.

HOWEVER, there was something I noticed in the Mephisto ending. At the close-up shot of Aqua in the water, it looks like there might be red crow feathers around him. That could be an indication that the Crow Girl does save. (Pause at 3:00 in this video and you'll see what I mean). It could also be petals, but I'm inclined to think it's crow feathers.

What do you guys think? Do you think Aka's trolling us about saving Aqua? Could the Mephisto ending be shadowing the Crow Girl rescuing Aqua? Is she a fraud? Hikaru being pulled down by those hands really makes a full circle with what he said in chapter 109 after he killed Yura. He literally said that he could feel the weight of his life increasing after getting Yura killed, and now he's sinking because of the same weight he was 'enjoying' the feeling of.

I honestly think Aqua might survive this, but I believe that before that happens, we will see him talking with Ai, both as Goro and as Aqua. Goro's initial goal was to deliver the twins safely, but since he couldn't because of Hikaru's plans, he ended up protecting the other twin after he got reborn as Aqua, who is also Sarina which would make Goro even happier. Aqua's goal was to revenge Ai and protect Ruby and he just did that, both of his personalities accomplished their goals.

Getting rid of all of Aqua’s ties to Goro would pretty much erase a big part of who he is, since his whole reason for wanting to become a surgeon in the first place comes from what he wanted to do in his past life. I just think the darker side of Goro will eventually fade out since he kind of accomplished what he wanted.

Personally I believe that the death of Hikaru is quite underwhelming and I would've personally wanted to see Aqua kill him in the most brutal way and make him suffer as much as him and the ones close to him did and dispose his body but well we can't have everything that we wish for xD

As much as I dont want him to die, his death makes sense tbh, He fulfilled his purpose(even though it was Goro's) but he is done, he is finally free and at peace with himself, he saved his sister and Ruby, she will go on to be more successful than Ai, and that was the dream

Aka puts foreshadowing in EVERYTHING. You can even go back to Love is War and see ALL the Princess Kaguya foreshadowing and hell even when Miyuki said he was going to get Kaguya and later on HE DID! Even the second season of the anime had all the foreshadowing of dark Ruby, the Ai keychain, and her descending into darkness. Stil, with Mephisto season 1 ending pretty much telling us what was going to happen is just a pure stroke of genius. Aka and Mengo had Doga Kobo studios put that in and they planned this ALL OUT. Hell one thing Aka can do really really well is put in all the genres into his series just like with Love is War. Comedy, romance, thriller, tragedy, horror, etc. Not many people can pull that off and Aka and Mengo did here. Sadly we got wait 3 weeks or for you Zephyr 2 1/2 weeks when the spoiler comes out on the 18th by Donut2x.

Damn bro Aqua making sure to keep Ruby safe even if it means sacrificing his own life to finishing off their father Hikaru and it was satisfying to see the spirits of Gorou sensei and possibly the other spirits of his victims coming back to get revenge on Hikaru and dragging him to the depths of the abyss and I enjoyed every moment of it, all while i was eating out of a bucket of popcorn 😋 but in all seriousness I hope Aqua manages to survive or if Tsukuyomi or someone saves him.😢🙏

imo it makes sense why he didn't fight back, because he wasn't a fighter, he nudged other people to do his fights, so when he was actually forced into a confrontation he was helpless.
