As a manga reader, it’s clear that aqua truly likes kana.

As someone who's read the manga I could confidently say that aqua has genuine feelings for kana, he always goes out of his way to help her even when he has no reason or gain from doing it, and many characters like; ruby, memcho, akane, and even the director are aware that aqua likes kana. I think the reason why aqua doesn't act on his feelings for her is because he wants to focus on his revenge first, he doesn't want kana to get involved in it or be in danger, but I think eventually when he finally accomplishes that he will act on his feelings for her.

Akane herself did say he's obsessed with Kana. Which is interesting, because we don't ever really get to see his POV when he thinks about her.

Even in the anime and not the manga, you can tell by how he act around people, Kana is the only person he is more open to, even more than Ruby. Kana is like the only genuine friend he made so far.

If you read the manga, you'll know that he's desperate to PROTECT kana that even MEMcho realized that it's not Kana that's obsessed with him, it's Aqua that's obsessed with Kana.

Even Akane who he was currently dating at the time, and the girl that can read people very well said that he's smitten by Kana.

Even in one chapter in regards to his plan, he says, "I'll use whatever means necessary, even Arima.... If I must"

He's at the point where he's willing to do anything EVEN Arima, which just proves to me that using her is a last resort and he has never done anything to use her before.

In the manga, until now he has never done anything to "use" her.

It's quite annoying how people just say Aqua is just using Kana without assessment of Aqua's character thru out the series.
- he knows alot about her
- have been shown to always look out for her
- . multiple characters having statements about his relationship with her that implies he likes her
- always look star struck every time she got the spotlight
- goes on dates with her without reasons
- just the thought of her ending up like Ai makes him crazy protective and is willing to do anything to protect her

Aqua currently right now is crazy for revenge but that doesn't invalidates everything that happens in the past arcs

He loves her. She is the most pure honest person in his life. Her entire struggle with being a child idol then forgotten then trying to succeed inspires him. Unlike AI or the others she doesn't really lie about who she is...and I she does, like by acting badly, she hides it horribly. He appreciates she both real and honest...the idol opposite to AI and the lies of love.

Basically, the relationship Aqua with Akane and Kana in the manga right now are...

Kana: After hurting her heart multiple times (not intentionally). They both finally made up. But Aqua is currently manipulating her without her knowing..

Akane: Dates for real because of guilt. But break up to continue his revenge. Still being use as a tool. Now Akane is Aqua's new enermy for trying to stop his revenge.

Yeah, from my point of view, the manga seems to want to lead us to the conclusion that Aqua loves Kana and has it been like this for a long time? Aqua never fully expresses how he feels about her but there is some weird behaviour there, and also several characters have commented on Aqua being interested in Kana, even Akane herself.

Even at some point in the manga when Aqua ignores Kana to protect her, and she gets sad and confronts him about it saying that he sure does it because he *hates* her, we have Aqua saying that it's the *opposite* while having a hard time talking. And that was before deciding to use her for his revenge too, so I doubt he was acting or lying.

Personally, I think that if this manga ends in a happy ending, with Aqua being done with his revenge, he will probably end up being with Kana, unless over time he fall in love with Akane too and gets with her, or if ends liking both and can't decide and make it an open ending.
