It’s crazy how you are keeping this game alive years and years after it’s been out, mad respect and thank you for your videos

I recently finished a playthrough of FFT after more than 10 years. Belias is so memorable that I forgot about Elmdore in Riovannes. I had several countermeasures for Belias but I had to retry a few times for Elmdore because Rafa cannot wait to join her brother!

Your #10 was perfect. It's what came right to mind and in the place that I would have put it. Your #1 was perfect as well because that girl's AI can just be derpy and get your a Game Over without much of anything that you could do.

I Totally agree with your list for the main story battles.

I have no opinion on the multiplayer ones because I have never played them.

Some easy counters for some of these without destroying the fun challenge:

10. Unlocked Monk and send him straight away after the Archer on the roof. Fight fire with fire get your own Black Mage against the enemy Black Mages

9. Diamond Armlets these will prevent the Time Mages from slowing you. Still need to watch out for Stop and Hasted enemies though

8. Rubber Shoes for your party outside the gate. The Knights and Archers all have Lightning elemental weapons

6. Defense Ring. These will block his main status move, but you still need to deal with his Bio spells

For both Wiegraf fights, Chameleon Robe. But the Belias fight, good luck 😂

And pray

Your top 2 are spot on! Lost count of how many job classes I have tried against Wiegraf before settling on Dragoon with Monk as secondary skills. That 2-panel reach with the lance was a godsend, so Wiegraf can't counter. That reach was also handy with poking Elmdor just enough to end the match (though I always wanted to be able to steal the equipment of the Assassins). Horrific back then but certainly fun to remember now.

One of the worst things about the Execution Site is if you need to do some grinding for it, the only available battlefield is Finnath River.

Agree with all maps. I would also like to nominate Dorter Trade City ch2 after Alicia, Lavian and Rad joins, this fight introduced me to a little skill called steal heart that I raged at as a kid. Also that fight where you first encounter Mustadio (forgot the map name) and you have to save him. Taught me a lot about speed, move and jump panels cause goddamn why are my units so slow lol.

Excellent video as always from the best FFT YouTuber ❤
Velius for me still is one of the hardest Boss fights of RPG games ever. I remember being locked there and trying a myriad of strategies to defeat Wiegraf 1v1 just to discover him after the fight XD
I always did multiple saves in games I played out of caution, but this was the first time ever in my gaming life that I actually needed to deploy one: an older save outside (and many stages before) Riovanes Castle, which then I grinded levels enough to burst Elmdor on the rooftop before Rafa AI did something risky. Indeed, I discovered by myself and used a teleporting ninja with movements boosting items to close the gap to double strike the Demons in the Velius fight, so I didn't even saw the rooftop as difficult. Funnily enough, in none of my playthroughs I discovered what Calculators were for, I just thought of them being the most cheesiest and useless units in the game. I just discovered what they did not long ago, here on your channel XD

Definitely Wiegraf at the Windmill. I never had issues with Dorter really, but the first time facing him, I ended up seeing a Game Over. Ziekden was another one as I wasn't expecting the -ra level spells yet. It was a rough way to end Chapter 1, but it definitely was a welcome ramp-up in difficulty. It also trains players that sometimes, focusing the boss is the better strategy.

In terms of sheer unrelenting difficulty, Wiegraf Riovaines definitely takes the cake.

That Wiegraf fight ended my last attempt to play through the game as I didn't have a save outside of that fight.

I’ve been waiting for this video for a long time! Excellent ranking, Jase! Most of these battles I expected to be on your list. I’m a bit surprised you didn’t put Velius at number 1, but it’s hard to argue with Elmdor’s rooftop fight. One battle I think is also difficult is at the end of the game in Chapter 4. The battle with Balk and his Hydras can catch some players off guard. Balk has a good amount of distance and can shoot across the map. I also thought Zalbag could be dangerous with his bloodsuck ability and the Ultima demons.

Anyway great video as always!🎉😊

It's a pity that the secret boss Ediblis didn't get here without leveling up, he's also a pretty tough opponent. You can also remember the 2nd battle against Algus/Argas in the Limberia castle. I also think it will be an undeniably tough battle if you haven't leveled up. Although even if you have leveled up, the first battle is against Wiegraf. He has a static sword in his arsenal that can add a chance to the stop status, and he also has a splint punch that adds a chance to the death sentense status, which means that after 3 turns a squad member dies. But the most unpleasant thing is the crush punch that can instantly kill one of the squad.

Great video! I am surprised to see Wiegraf 2 in Orbonne so high up. In the very first move he exposes himself to your party. Sure, he hits like a truck, but I usually can gang up against him after and finish him before his team arrives. I used to have a lot more trouble dealing with Izlude just before this one.

Many Japanese players also says Dorter, Golgollarda, Finnath, Ziekden are hard points.
As you say, the consecutive battles against Wiegraf and Belias are traumatic for most Japanese players.

My only real argument is 1 and 2, which isn't that weird based on other comments. The way I see it is, in a vacuum maybe you could argue the fight on the roof could be harder but, the fact it's directly after the other fight, you're already so overprepared (since you, well beat it) I'd say the roof fight is generally easier. You can get soft locked a lot easier on weigraf but, you can RNG your way into winning on the roof. If she runs, you can probably win, if she dive bombs, ok sure you lose. I see the arguement for it but, you can definitely win the roof fight with a much weaker team than against weigraf.

I was young and was a "race player" in ff games and was notorious for not saving. My skup randoms and rush the story often got me soft-locked, but this was my first tactical game with perma-death and I remember getting all the way to Rat Cellar and losing like three of my characters and then wondering after the battle where they were; or spending a whole Saturday afternoon grinding before the gallows fight only to make a mistake, let Agrias crystallize and then realizing I hadn't saved all day. Tough growing up before autosaves

Number 10 was one of the first that popped in my head. I remember one of my last playthroughs of the game, way back, this battle giving me some trouble, when normally it never did.

Riovanes Castle is the hardest set of battles in the game for first time players.

There's a rumor story in chapter 4 called "The Horror At Riovanes Castle". The real horror was having to restart the game because you physically can't beat those two battles.😂
