I was intensely depressed for the first 7 months of this year until finally I started lifting weights and eating only whole foods and surprise surprise I'm not depressed anymore

I actually got my stool tested. Turns out I had H. Pylori. 2 weeks of antibiotics, and 2 months later, I feel like a different person. I do still have ailments such as BPD. But symptoms are less on the gut side. Which helps me eat and have energy to help my brain heal with neuroplastislcity. I'm on a good path now.

I adopted a gut-health high-fibre vegan diet 3 years ago to lose weight. I did lose 20kg and have kept off. I also have now come off 15 years of psychiatric medications. Thank you for finally explaining what happened to me sort of by accident ❤ it's been incredible to not feel suicidal every day! For, like 2 years?

Thank you, Doctor! As a holistic and wellness coach who works with a ton of people on this specific issue— I can’t thank you enough for addressing it. Our lifestyle is a significant and very empowering way for us to manage mental health. Great video!

Couldn’t be more informative. Soon as I have a bout of stress, my diet suffers and all of a sudden I’m feeling worse than I was during the stressful period.

This is the best channel for mental health news which is truly new and not just a new presentation of older findings. I also like the concise scripts because my mind wanders when information is diluted or delivered indirectly, or slowly. ❤

Antibiotics can have a huge impact. I had to take a 2 month course of tetracycline early in the year. I feel they affected my mental health hugely, I was very depressive and low energy throughout that period and slowly started to rebuild myself after.

All i can say is

Back when my gut and body used to function normal, i could handle stressors like a champ. I think i taught myself reframing at some point and like i could always bouce back.

Now ever since my body & gut go nuts, i got confusion, panic attacks, anhedonia, depression, anxiety here and there and cannot handle anything due to that.

And now ever since doing my own gut therapy things have been getting somewhat better!

Thank you bringing this to forefront! Not until a year ago did I realize how much balancing the gut bacteria can affect so much. Last 2 years was struggling with gallbladder issues and last October had cholecystectomy. Afterwards I got more serious about my diet: no fried and greasy food, lower saturated fat. Even though I had surgery and can technically eat what I want now....I want to feel better. I continued eating healthier and have lost 15lbs, have more energy, can recall things better, and my mood is better (I don't get as down or worried about same situations as I used to). 😊

Dr Marks I Will forever be indebted to you! I listened to one of your guys health videos a little over a year ago and decided to give it a shot. I'd suffered my ENTIRE life from depression, stress, & anxiety....none of which I could seem to control. I took your nutritional advice and I have LITERALLY been depression/anxiety free since. My sis & dad are now listening. I don't think I'll ever wrap my mind around knowing how easy it would have be to end my suffering all these years. But incredibly grateful, even at a later stage in life (middle aged).

Enjoyed this video and am very interested in gut microbiome and its overall relationship with our illnesses and mental health. I watch a lot of YouTubes and finding an alarming rate of people testifying to the changing of their diet, gluten free, no processed foods, no dairy, no meat, At 73 I have had a celiac antibody appear and will get tested (endoscopy). When I first got my report it would take many months to see a gastroenterologist so stayed off gluten until then- for my health. Can't believe how much better I feel and dropped weight. When I do eat wheat related products/ cross contamination, I feel like I have ADHD, and feel horrible. Wish I had eaten better all my life. I wish I had expected more from my physicians rather than accepting an Rx for a cream for my rash, psoriasis, or OTC to mask the problem. Doctor after doctor and was either a cream or antidepressant for the visit. I now truly believe our body reacts to what we eat- rashes, anxiety, sleep, anger, etc. Getting to the root of the problem is the key for better health, understanding of what we can do to have a better quality of life.

I support the theory that says " men have two brains; one in the head and one in the gut"

I learnt of something called the enteric nervous system otherwise known as the second brain. But recently I decided i was done reliving the stress of my childhood and the last two weeks i feel like a new man. I out walking, cooking and i don't feel tired during the day.
