How To Fix Bosch 504 Error - Cordless Drill Hack

I got a 'Error 504' on my Bosch powered Trek electric bike recently.
From what I've read, this is down to overly sensitive tamper detection software.
In order to clear the error I think you have to ride for 90 minutes or so in 'limp' mode. The weather is particularly bad at the moment so I decided to set up this cordless drill rig to do my pedalling for me.
After about 9 miles or so the error had cleared. I believe I need to upgrade my firmware asap.

Thanks for this video. I turned my bike upside down and sat there in front of it holding the drill one handed on my right knee. After 90 min of 'drilling' the 504 error was gone.
I didnt remove my redped 3 chip while drilling. I've set the max speed now to the recommended speed of 33 km/h to bypass the error in the future.
My Drive Unit Version is 1.3.3.0 on a gen2 Performance Line

Mit Bosch Smart System 2022 mit der neusten Version von Mai 2023 Motor Software 5.17.0 und Flow App 1.12.6 fahre die SpeedBox 1.0
Am Anfang sah es aus als würde es nicht klappen do nach dem 2en versuch ;)

I tried to fix my 504 error following this hack, but was not successful. Display is turning of after about 10 min. of drilling... Any idea why? I tried several times, with motor set to OFF or ECO, it was the same.

My trek rail did it today, leaving me to ride about an hour back home. Need to get my firmware upgraded!

Yeah, I'm not buying another Bosch ebike. The motors are great, the practices the company makes to deal with tuning chips is fucked. Unless they manage to make better tuning chips, there's no way I'm buying a Bosch bike anymore. 💀

i had searched the 504 error by google, the other said we can reset this only three times? when the lats reset, the bosch motor will lockdown forever? it is really?

Hello. Any advice for the best way to attach the bits between the drill and crank? I either have a standard Allen key or normal drill bits. Not sure if the parts I need to purchase

I sat turning the peddle for about 40 minutes on echo doing 6 to 10 miles per hour, then went for a little ride in echo.
I kept turning off and on to see if the error went, after being out 30 minutes it cleared.
My question is can I do this as many times as I want, and is it only Bosch themselves that will reset only 3 times?

You mention in the comments you had to change the battery a couple does this mean you can stop the rotation, change battery and start again?

Hello, it Haibike allttrail with Yamaha engine pw-st, after magnet hack, I drove it like 200km to the speeds of 50-55km/h, but in one moment in rhe ride motor cut of power (assistance), and went in some kind of limp mode. Walk in works, in HIGH mode it gives assist till 12-15km/h when I ride in highest gear...do you know whether it will work for Yamaha pw-st
