Hi Insiders: Just wanted to clarify some details based on what we saw in the comments.

What's NOT going away:

Trimming
Enhancements
Blurring
Audio Library
Filters
End Screens
Cards
Subtitles
Sound effects
Quick fixes (stabilize, contrast, slow motion, saturation, etc)

What IS going away on September 20, 2017:

The tool specifically at the destination youtube.com/editor (raw video clip editing)
The Photo slideshow tool

The editor never seemed useful to me personally. I really want to be able to upload replacement audio and/or the entire file of my existing videos on Youtube. That way I could drastically improve my channel without deleting valuable (but rough) videos I had made years previously.

I really truly dislike the fact that YouTube has decide to remove the editor. It was a very useful tool I hope they consider bring the tool back. Thank you.

We didn't use it because it wasn't good. It would have been great if you could add more than one audio track, and do more than one edit cut. Anyway, it's gone, but I think more people would have used it if it had some basic but fundamental editing options.

I was totally dependent upon the youtube.com/editor, now I can't even put my initials on my videos. It is such a good tool, needs more options instead of getting to do away with it.

The best solution would be to make it portable and allow users to download it.

Then people are utilizing their own resources.

There are still not very many good video editors out there, if YT has a good alternative that I could download and run, I would use it.

I DETEST third-party editors and I never use anything but the youtube video editor. If creators knew how simple, effective, and FAST this process is they'd be using it in far bigger numbers. I've had to tell so many fellow creators about the youtube editor - they simply didn't know it was there! I know my words will fall on deaf ears but this is going to seriously affect how much content I upload and monetize. I won't be able to maintain my uploads because the frustration of third-party editors and the time it takes to upload the finished product will frustrate the crap out of me. I know this because I used things like PowerDirector and the like at first - until I found the youtube editor. Huge bummer. Huge, huge bummer.

I use it for quick edits in videos when I don't have access to my device with my main editor, wouldn't really want it moved

After having phased it out, can you at least leave up a page alike the old /create page from 2011 (snapshots available in the internet archive) that feature both online video editors (see said /create page), free/open source editors that are easy to use and is cross-platform (kdenlive, openshot, shotcut), and proprietary products and advanced software (adobe, final cut, avid, blackmagic, lightworks, blender, etc.)?
Perhaps even a program similar to the YouTube Live Verified one, which features Live software that integrates well into YouTube on the HC (answer/2907883)?

I do have a major youtubing question. I am only about to do my second video on YouTube. Do I have to pay for some songs so they aren't copyright? If I only wanted to use about 30 seconds of a song, would I still have to pay? And does this only apply for when you are editing with it? What if I was making my video and music was playing in the background. Is that okay and would I still have to pay for that? I am trying to be as detailed as possible because I need to know as much about music policy so none of my videos will ever be banned and I don't have to worry about copyright.

You really need to change some things with the new youtube layout in Beta. You left a key feature out. How can I quickly view the analytics for a certain video? I have to manualy go in to analytics and find the video. It was quicker on the old laoyut.

Glad you are keeping the trimming since this is useful for cutting live streams. I do recommend you improve the trimming feature in the enhancements. The clear button should not be right next to the trim button or at least have an undo button so I can undo something if I make a mistake. A click and drag feature (similar to adobe premiere timeline) would be great so I can drag to the parts I want to cut instead of watching entire parts of the video to place the cut.

People who use the Youtube Editor, look up Avid's free video editor on Google, or try Davinci Resolve, which is also a free editor and colour corrector. They are both industry standards, and learning them will give you real employment skills.
