Great video! You mentioned almost everything I wanted to hear in this video. A few more tips that came to my mind:
1. If you use the same sound effect multiple times in quick succession, give each one of them a slightly different pitch. Makes it sound much more natural since no real sound is ever exactly the same.
2. When you want to switch between two shots where the focus is very far apart, you can use transitions to more smoothly guide the viewers attention from one point to the other.
3. Music Stems (14:04) are extremely useful and I just want to highlight it a bit more. Take the drums out and it'll sound more relaxed. Take the melody out and it'll sound more focused. Mixing and matching the stems can allow you to create multiple emotions with the same song and allow you to transition between songs much easier. Just to give you some examples.
4. The intro is where you need to show the "unique value" your video provides. Put 10 times more effort into the intro to prove to the viewer that the video is worth their time. What that unique value is depends on your content. For filmmakers that could be an amazing shot. For gamers that could be clips which showcase high-skill gameplay.
5. Avoid clear patterns and add variety. If your editing is predictable it's less interesting. If you're editing is fast-paced for a bit, maybe add a slower section. Use multiple music genres and explore different emotions. Watching a 10 minute video that has the same style of editing throughout can be hard to watch. By changing it up, you re-stimulate the viewer and can tell a good story much more easily.

This video feels like one of those private classes you'd pay for. Amazing.

I thought this would just be a generic advice on making hyperedited YouTube slop, but this is actually some of the best advice ive ever seen

What is so impressive about this video is, that he is not just repeating the same generic advice but he actually proves what he presents by hooking you into his own advice video that you watch til the end. That was really impressive

Man as a professional who worked on television, A/V agencies and at communications department in the industry I gotta say: You resumed every skill and editing technique that the broadcasting industry uses for both visual and sound appeal. It took me a lot of years and an insane amount of editing time to learn those things organically. There is a huge amount of valuable information in your content, and that impressed me. For me, the glowing highlights, animation on static things and sound design on both SFX and music are the most attention hooking things and I put a lot of effort on sound and cut timming while editing. Amazing video bro!

Dude this is the most no BS editing guide out there. Love the fact that you ignored your bias on the shaking effect and decided to recommend it anyway knowing it could work for someone else.
Great video!

Probably the best advice ive ever seen on youtube. Not only is it incredibly well made, but it is extremely useful information. Ill be keeping this in mind in the future. Ive been feeling a bit sluggish lately with my editing, like it needed something more, and you just shined light on exactly what i was missing. Thank you!

Finally, a video talking about editing that didn't just say "cut out the deadspace" over and over again.

the way you are explaining all this whilst the mentioned techniques are being used is sooo impressive, fading the music to go to the next segment and then you displaying how that would actually look like implicitly is just brilliant, you've got such a great eye for this stuff

VERY NEW youtuber here. I so appreciate and respect the initial advice that for all the "formulas" its not one way fits all! I often feel overstimulated by super fast talking with no pauses in between. Especially in a "how to" video. I tune out and jump off that video fast. I see that advice given everywhere. Similarly I see one size fits all advice on adding music. I truly think knowing who we are and who our viewers are/what they come for is HUGE! I see myself as an over-explainer. Not always great in life, but for the viewer who digs me, it will probably be THAT thing! Its what works for me. Its why every business I've done succeeded. But that's not saying that its the right thing for a different youtuber.

I will watch this video many times. It is a hair more stimulating than I like, but times in a way I can handle.🧚‍♀️💜💜💜

I wish I had this video back when I was starting. I was so mad because I had great content but wasn't getting any attention, any views. I felt like getting to 1000 subs was mission impossible. But after some time, I was lucky when I found out I could give my channel initial dose of subs, just enough to start getting noticed more and more. I got myself a first couple hundred subs very fast (I have personally used a bit of Famester), and after that my main channel gained a ton of organic traffic day after day.
