I'm not clear what the worry about workers' rights is. The only way we could regress / removed these is:
- The union's side not win general elections = Their own fault
- Who does win the election removes rights = What people voted for if in their manifesto
or if they unilaterally apply them without it having been in their manifesto AND the public care enough then they'd vote them out at the next election and the union's side can re-apply them
So the worry is "We don't think the majority of the UK public agree with us, therefore we'll not win the election. We believe they will vote for parties that want to remove workers rights. This is unacceptable. The people aren't aloud to decide themselves. We therefore want to stay in the EU so they can over rule the wants of the UK public. A "backstop" if you will to cover for our electoral failures."
