The EU and Europe are 2 completely different things.

No one with any sense is against Europe per se, some of us are just against our laws being made by foreigners we didn't vote for. Everyone is in favour of trade with Europe and there's no reason why independent sovereign countries cannot have free trade arrangements.

After all these years people are still not getting it: the eu was not made as a pure trading organistion, the founding states of the "Montanunion" decided that it was more usefull to share the resources of the rhineland (coal and steel) instead of having constantly war against eachother in order to control that area. So, sharing and solidarity are the core function of the eu. I get it, when the UK joined in 73 (the sick man of europe at that time) nobody bothered about reading the documents, but thinking you could join the single market and get all the benefits from it but not taking up the responsibilities that go along and piss on our legs by opening up a tax haven on our door steps, just shows how self-referential the discussion still seems to be in Britain.

the Single Market is NOT actually a trading bloc, it is an anti-consumer, price controlling and anti-competition system. The UK obtained no advantages within it which were not available under WTO, look at the US's and China's penetration of it.
