Every fitness center should have every spin machine set up to generators.

With proper parts and setup, a bicyle generator can easily produce 100w in an hour.
In an off grid camp, this can really help to charge a battery something like 12v 20~30ah.
When it's cloudy or raining, 6 people can charge a 20ah battery, each taking turn for 20 minutes.
With a 12v 20ah battery fully charged, you can power led lights, phones, tv, radio and many other things.

Take the average bicycle crankset with 38 and 52 tooth chainrings mated to the average bicycle rear hub consisting of 11 through 34 tooth cogs and use that to spin up a very well (near perfectly) balanced 16' diameter X 2' thick flywheel made of standard construction grade steel with 520 tooth down to 38 tooth cogs on its axle and, SHAZAM! Once you get a 12, 000lb flywheel spinning at 2, 000+rpm you can hook several homes up to it and turn on everything they've got inside of them. Think that's not so? That's how major utility companies smooth out the grid and bring it back up during brownouts. They just don't ramp them up with bicycle groupsets, but they could. Flywheels work, period. 5 minutes to bring the wheel up from 0 to 2, 000rpm and 6 to 8 hours before it slows down should give anyone 2 to 3 hours of power for any application under 15 amps. Just hooking a bicycle up to a generator to attempt to discredit gearing in general is super disingenuous, insidiously insulting and well within the realms of tactical disinformation used by Big Tobacco and Big Pharma to convince the public that they have everyone's best interests at heart.

You can just charge a battery with it can't you. Use a combination of generators too. Then if you have charged enough batteries you could power anything.

Somebody actually asked that?

I guess it is a valid question.

What I find interesting is that this whole energy transition is making people more aware of what a KWh is. It's way more than people realize. It may help to make people more energy efficient.

in Vilnius (Lithuania), there is a cinema where you need to pedal while its showing the movie. The audience is powering it by pedaling

Why do we completely ignore that mechanical ⚙️ transmissions exist ?

So in India and Africa, we can sit for an hour and generate enough electricity to have burnt toast... But Master White, In India we don't eat burnt toast, we eat chapathi/rice ..

A cellphone takes about 6wh to charge a laptop takes about 30-50 wh to charge - an exercise bike that generated electricity could make sense could make sense for a prepper type guy

Misleading, he shows a way to power a house with a flywheel which is possible, yet completely discredit this with information form Wikipedia. I like the enthusiasm but there is much more to know here, flywheels do work.

connect the pedal to battery. then if the battery full use the battery to generate your home

I feel like this is the wrong question to ask. While other sources of energy are available, trying to rely on manual generators is silly. Instead, the question should be how much energy can we easily generate, and how can we apply that energy in a domestic environment. Devices like these should be viewed as reducing energy consumption from the grid, not replacing it.

Still would be a fun way to charge up some batteries.

im currently studying electricity and here is my perspective. i just tested my 2 slice toaster, it uses 760 watts continuous. i set the "timer" to exactly half way ie half way between lightly cooked and dark brown, it took my toaster 97 seconds to complete its task, that is 1.61 minutes, or .0268 hours. to calculate watt hours it is .0268h x 760w = 20.368 watt hours, or .020368kwh. he doenst need to make a kilowatt hour, not even close. just 20 watt hours in 1.5 minutes. use a battery, store the energy and ride the bike at a reasonable pace for 5 minutes to charge up the battery, then use that energy to power an inverter, or get a 12 volt toaster to keep conversion inefficiencies out of it. side note. those space heaters everyone loves, leave it plugged in all day every day for a month and it will cost you, if you pay 11 cents per kwh for electricity like i do, about $75 a month. electric heat is always a bad idea. powering a cell phone charger way way way less energy than this, hell a laptop would be 1/100 of the power needed for a toaster, unless you watch a lot of porn

Instead of a small bicycle wheel, make it a large heave fly wheel, in the tons, where you have to stand on the top of it to get it moving up to speed.

Jehu, the most important thing in science is using leverage to work off of what the human body produces, and in this case the leverage is how many electric motors you're turning with a good gear train and fly wheel to charge your battery or power a car.
Have you seen Charles Greenwood's HumanCar and his DuetGen generator and learned how those work? Those are amazing!
