Inside a Drill Press

Restoring and upgrading the drill press from my grandpa was a fun project exactly to my liking. The variable speed is incredibly useful, and I can finally run all tools at the right rpm.

The VFD is a Sourcetronic ST 500 400v 1,5kW for the 1kW motor. It's not sponsored, and I paid about 260€ for it. You can get much cheaper ones, but I had a bad experience with one of them and decided that investing a bit more into a quality one made in Germany is a good idea. I have no regrets.
Same with bearings and belt, which I got for 60€ total. I used cheap bearings for different projects, and they broke way too early. This nice drill press deserves nice hardware, so I went with SKF bearings.

I LOVE THIS. I have been given a "free" drill press and I think it needs maintenance, probably disassembly, repair, reassembly is more appropriate. This vid will help enormously. Thanks.

I have a Grizzly drill press that looks almost identical to that one except it is green, and since I live in the US it has a single phase 110v motor since that is the most common available power around here. it also has a built in work light located inside that big hole shown at 2:44 . Better yet, I got it from my grandpa too! The best part of all is since mine is so similar, I can take the same steps you made and apply it to mine, thanks for the video.
