I’m making a vintage recipe today called “Sad” Cake. It tastes like a Butter Pecan Gooey Butter Cake & you only need 5 ingredients to make it! It’s called Sad Cake because it rises as it bakes but falls when it cools.

I had some over ripe bananas that I needed to use, so I mashed 2 up and threw them in with this Sad Cake recipe. I had to add an extra 5 minutes to the bake time, and I left out the nuts because I didn’t have any. My (grown) boys loved it so much that I made it again 2 days later with the last 2 bananas. One pan barely lasts more than 24 hours in my house. I just love a recipe that is fast, easy, made with simple ingredients I always have in the pantry, and my kids love. This is a winner! Thanks for sharing!

I have been making and eating this cake for 60 years and it ALWAYS HA COCONUT IN IT, ply try adding it and see what you think! It just makes the flavor so much more rich and smooth!
