Me; "I put 500 hours into this game back on the PS2. What could this video possibly teach me."

2 minutes in; "wait, Yuna was there the whole time?"

Ah yes, 30 mins into the story, perfect time to fight end game bosses.

Primal - you are a hero. I'm a 28 year old who's been playing with, and obsessed with, Final Fantasy games for over 21 years now. I've been watching your videos for help and for entertainment for the last 3 of those years. Never commented before but just wanted to say that your grind really, really is appreciated. I love these overpowered by ____ videos.
Thanks man,
You're a true legend.

I can't imagine the heartbreak of having to do this twice. Really appreciate the hard work you put into these videos. Very informative and entertaining. Thank you!

Kinda nice to see someone having fun with X-2 instead of just being mad it's not as dark as X.

350 hours to achieve max stats is unimaginable for me. Having my in- game timer reach 99 hours (in another FF game) seemed like an eternity.

Now I understand
I thought I was a gamer
But I'm only a toddler who doesn't like grinding.

I actually had the Guide Book as a Teen and tried 100% completing it.
Now I'm playing 12 years later, totally enjoying myself and remembering bits of random knowledge scattered throughout the entire game.
FFX-2 & FFXII were NUTS for keeping worthwhile secrets hidden

I love how he explains his process to the viewer as if we're going to do it too.

I've never even played this game, but now I feel like I've spent 100 hours in it so thanks for making this. 😆

I mean considering how powerful Yuna and Rikku can be by the end of FFX it makes sense to be strong enough to take on super bosses 30 minutes in.

Your hard work is not going to go unnoticed. Amazing job man!

Was nobody gonna tell me all these years that Yuna was just groveling in a corner in a moogle outfit handing out free heals? Like this is normal?

This was such a great video, thank you @Primalliquid. I have been a long time lover of the FFX/X-2 series and the HD Remaster makes it better with the Creature Creator. I actually modified this strategy a bit to do a full 100% completion run on my first game, then a NG+ run where I completed all the fiend tales/oversoul monsters/ and every tournament.

For my first game (100% using YRP) I followed the storyline until after Besaid. Once I hit Mi'ihen highroad I walked around by the save sphere until the girls were all at about level 12. Switched over to the Creature Creator and using Chocobo/Tonberry/Red Elemental got all the way up to Grand Cup Hard and Hell Breeders. Once I had Hell Breeders, I switched back to YRP, Gave Rikku Thief and Yuna/Paine Psychic, then spammed Black Chandelier until the girls were about level 30, then completed Chapter 1. Chapter 2 I got Flan Azul and used Black Chandelier (or Hellbreeders if you are strong enough) with my fiend team to level him up 5 times and unlocked Shiva. Switched back to YRP, brought them up to 50 using Black Chandelier/Hell Breeders. Finished Chapter 2, in Chapter 3 once I got Lady Luck in was downhill from there. Double exp with Lady luck grinding Hell Breeders it didn't take terribly long to get to level 75-80, which is more than enough to beat the game. A few notes for my 100% first walkthrough.
1. You will get every dressphere with 100% completion but not every dressphere is great and they all don't need to be maxed out (you can if you want but I found it superfluous for the NG+ that I wanted to run). I only used the following: Thief, Psychic, Black Mage, Gun Mage, Dark Knight, Alchemist, Lady Luck (only for leveling purposes), Berserker and Mascot. The only ones I mastered were Black Mage, Berserker, Dark Knight and Mascot. ** I did not ever use warrior, but all the girls will need the SOS Protect ability from Warrior IOT maximize the Mascot.
2. Psychic is absolutely broken. You will literally be able to telekinesis almost any fiend that is not immune to eject because it is based on your level.
3. Black Mage is good early on, especially if you max it out with some AP grinding but becomes irrelevant once you obtain alchemist, unless there is a boss with Elemental weaknesses.
4. Gun Mage is a beast in Chapter 1 and 2 and should be your primary healer, as well as a really good damage dealer until you get Alchemist. Right away you should be able to get 1000 needles (Cacataur) White Wind (Mycotoxin), and Heaven's Cataract (Gucumatz) from your time grinding in the Fiend Arena. (Note that you will have to use the Psychic Brainstorm ability on Mycotoxin so it casts White Wind on the party). You can get Mighty Guard in Macalania from Haizhe using the same Brainstorm ability). I kept Yuna as my Gun Mage all the way to the beginning of Chapter 3, then switched over to Dark Knight.
5. Speaking of is even more broken than Psychic and with the grinding you did in the early game, buy 99 Holy Waters and you will be able to cast White Hole right away (you should have 99 Ice Gems and a bunch of fire/water/thunder gems from your Black Chandelier grind) which is good for 4, 800 damage every time (Which will double once you unlock Physicist). There are only 3-4 fiends in the whole game that are immune to holy, so this will definitely get you through the game. Once you learn all your stash abilities (AP grind with Shiva), your Alchemist will almost be better than Mascot.
6. Speaking of Mascot, The girls each get some extra abilities that are related to certain Dresspheres. Yuna will be able to use Swordplay and Arcana, Rikku can use Instinct and White Mage, and Paine can use Samurai and Black mage. The only ones I found that were really useful was Arcana, Instinct and Black Mage, but feel free to max out all six dresspheres to maximize the Mascot utility.
7. Make sure you get the Covenant of Growth GG. It will make your NG+ EXP grind SO MUCH EASIER.
8. If you really want to master every dressphere, Using an AP Egg and the Covenant of Growth on Shiva will make short work of it, but you won't get those 2 until Chapter 5. But you can AP grind Shiva as soon as you get her in Chapter 2 using the Intrepid GG you got for beating the standard cup three times. It's more of a pain because you have to go through all three gates to get the triple AP.

NOTE: You can absolutely get Mascot in Chapter 1 by continuing the early fiend arena grind until you beat the Youth League cup but I didn't do it because it just makes the game too easy. Mascot is truly broken as far as dresspheres go, and using it throughout the first run would have taken all the fun out of using the rest of the dresspheres and that wasn't how I wanted to play the first run through, but if it's your Jam, then go for it. It honestly doesn't add a terrible amount of time to the initial grind.

NOTE 2: If you want to save yourself the Elma grind for Supreme Gems you can bribe Chac when it is oversouled. Make sure YRP are ALL wearing Lady Luck and they all have the Double Items ability enabled. Gillionaire and Double items stack, so that means if all three girls are wearing Lady Luck you will get 8x Items and 8x Gil. An oversouled Chac will give you 10x Supreme Gems if you bribe it, and with YRP all using Lady Luck that will turn into 80x Supreme Gems which will follow you into your NG+. Since you only need 60 to teach Ultima, I like to use a few Supreme gems for Sunburst with my Alchemist which will hit for 6k on all monsters (12k with the Physicist ability and Break Damage Limit).

NOTE 3: You can absolutely farm the snot out of Machina Panzer for Gil and Crystal Bangles using Treasure Hunt GG, Horn of Plenty GG or just straight up Lady Luck and all of that money and items will carry over to your NG+ making upgrading your fiend party much easier right away. Honestly, a level 90 or so Lady Luck will have no problems with Machina Panzer using 4 dice every round, so there should be no need to use the Treasure Hunt or Horn of Plenty GG but it's up to you. If YRP are all wearing Lady Luck. each Machina Panzer fight will yield 80, 000 gil and 8 Crystal Bangles, so farm to your hearts content.

Here is a Chapter by Chapter Dressphere breakdown of how I used the dresspheres during the game. Note that these were the dresspheres I PRIMARILY used, but I occasionally switched to others depending on the Boss fight. I really only used Lady Luck in the Fiend Arena to grind for EXP/Gil and Items. The only time I used Lady Luck in the actual game was to bribe Chac and Lich.
CH 1: Yuna - Psychic then Gun Mage / Rikku - Psychic / Paine - Black Mage
CH 2: Yuna - Gun Mage / Rikku - Psychic / Paine - Black Mage then Alchemist (I went to the Calm Lands first to get the Alchemist dressphere)
CH 3: Yuna - Dark Knight / Rikku - Psychic then Berserker / Paine - Alchemist
CH 4: Same as Chapter 3 since it is so short and there is so little combat.
CH 5: Same until I got Mascot, then all three Girls were Mascots

By the time I got Mascot, I had mastered Black Mage (Paine), Psychic (Rikku), Dark Knight (Yuna), and Berserker (Rikku). I didn't master Alchemist because I did not want to grind that much just for Mega Phoenix, Ether and Elixir. Mastering Mascot was pretty fast thanks to AP Egg and Covenant of Growth grinding Shiva.

For the NG+ Run, I bypassed Tonberry and Red Elemental and took @silenceundying advice and went straight for Dive Beak/Recoil/Flak Python (you should already have the Chocobo cup unlocked from your previous 100% run). While I was EXP grinding, they all had Covenant of Growth GG/Mascot. The rest of my setup was Abominable GG and Thief (Divebeak) / Mascot (Flak Python and Recoil). As long as you follow the progressions for the Aeon Cup and the Fiend World Cup/Almighty Shinra Cup you should be able to easily complete all the cups with a level 99 team that is maxed out on Shmooth Shailing (longest part of the whole grind, getting to level 99 is pretty fast with COG).
*BONUS - Once you complete all the tournaments with your fiend team, it's fun to max out YRP and give them all Ragnarok and Iron Duke and the Last Resort GG you got from Shinra's fiend tale, and then go fight all the tournaments again with YRP. It's fun to have more control over the attacks, plus you actually get to use the awesome items you got instead of just wasting them.

This is how I did it, and I enjoyed the mix of grinding and playing, but it made grinding easier knowing I didn't have to walk around in a circle for hours on end and have random encounters.

Thanks for the excellent guide. You're awesome. I'm currently working on this right now. Never thought about playing with the captured monsters over the main party. This is going to be a fun run. :)

My mild compulsive disorder almost required me to do this. Only with X-2 in particular, I felt like I had to max out all the dress spheres as soon as I got them
