A true British patriot - wore the three lions on his shirt proudly, accepted his OBE from Her Majesty. Then queued for 12 hours and even bought doughnuts for his fellow queuers. David, you did yourself and your country proud... he even said when he was interviewed in the crowd, "Her Majesty gave our country 70 years, I'm spending a few hours in a queue"

This man is rich beyond most of our dreams, famous and a respected English sportsman, yet he came, queued for 12 hours with the people to pay his respects to the Queen.
All honour and respect to him ❤️🇬🇧

Much touched, he didn't use his status, went alone, no security, true British gentleman

He didn't need to queue but he showed true respect. What an example of a great British patriot

He got in line at 2 am and came in a suit. Massive respect from me to him.

He just goes there, stands in line for hours like everyone else, then pays his respects and walks off, all seemingly without a bodyguard or personal protection, he's down to earth 👍

I read an interview with David Beckham just after he went and saw Her late Majesty laying in state. He said that he was raised a monarchist and that if he didn’t go and pay his respects that his grandfather would never forgive him. I shared the touching tribute on FB and said that someone with his profile could have easily jumped the queue. But he didn’t. And my respect for him went up a thousand fold. And he waited in queue for over 12 hours.

Proud of you Becks. Showing why you were captain of England once again.

I love how respectful everyone is. Silent, quick bow, so all the people behind them in the queue can have their moment aswell. The UK citizens know how to behave in these situations. Long live the Queen and the King.

Look at him, played with immense pride for his nation for many years and once again showed his love of country by dressing appropriately, stood in line for 12 hours to pay his respects to the Queen. What a class act.

This made my liking and respect for Beckham go up about 100 notches. He really loved the Queen and I understand he is a friend of Williams. Good job, Becks.

This brought tears to my eyes. It's refreshing to see a celebrity like him stand in line like all his countrymen, expecting no special treatment. He honestly looks emotional.

This still brings a strong emotional response a year later, I can't imagine what it must have been like on that day.

Beckham deserves respect. He queues like normal people waiting for 12 hours to tribute to the queen, without using shortcuts as a celebrity. His humbleness deserves respect
