'So that [the Queen's death] has been confirmed?' the White House press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, said on hearing the news of the death of Queen Elizabeth.

Jean-Pierre was discussing the Inflation Reduction Act when journalists interrupted to confirm the Queen's death. Queen Elizabeth, Britain's longest-reigning monarch and the nation's figurehead for seven decades, has died aged 96, Buckingham Palace said on Thursday. 'I don't want to get ahead of what the president is going to say. I want him to, for you all to hear from him first'

I think she handled that pretty darn well, considering that a bunch of people pretty much just blurted out "the queen is dead" and demanded an immediate reaction from her.

From a person in the UK, well done. You were put on the spot in front of cameras and you held your ground with dignity and respect. I applaud you. Thank you.

This was a masterclass in how to handle a press conference. Not only did she address but her tone completely changed and she showed nothing but grace and compassion. Well done.

Man, she wanted to go ahead with whatever she was talking about, but paused for a moment, and decided against it. The way she handled the news was, imo, very well done. What a legend.

As a Brit, I applaud her professionalism in the way she composed herself and handled the arrogant and blatantly rude manner the press launched that on her. Thank you USA for your compassion and the delicate way this lady dealt with that news

As an English woman, well done to this lady, who was totally put on the spot...Shame some thought the best way to inform her was to blurt it

This is the most real and honest reaction this woman has ever had during her press conferences. Tough blast out from the ( in my opinion ) rude press, tossing that news at her like a grenade.

Wow she handled that really well! Literally in the middle of a sentence about something completely different then she took her time and thought out a calm and rational but respectful response to people shouting at her “the queen is dead!"

It just shows how influential she was on the global stage. She wasn't "The Queen of England" or "Queen Elizabeth", she was simply "The Queen". There are many monarchies around the world yet she was THE Queen.

Much, much dignity here. Well done. To any British YouTube users reading this, sincerest condolences. I have lived in the UK for four years and have very fond memories of your country. Her Majesty has felt like someone woven into the fabric of reality. It’s surreal to think that she’s passed.

Her face when everyone started saying the queen was dead all at once. Pure panic for a split second, and then, calm and coordinated professionalism. Very impressive. She recovered quickly and handled the situation as best as she could, even though she was thrown off and probably very confused.

Her responses is perfectly fine. It was breaking news and she didn't have the chance to discuss it with the President.

She did an excellent job in keeping her calm and giving the subtle reaction. Proud of her.

Wow that room was like a bunch of kids wanting to be the one to tell their teacher the school drama. Pathetic. Well done to her for such a respectable response

I don’t know how she could have handled unexpected news any better.

Reporters sounded like a bunch of children hoping to get a goofy soundbite. She handled that extremely well for thinking on the her feet. I assume she knew going into the briefing that the Queen was under supervision.

As a Brit, I commend you for the way you reacted when the news was blurted out to you and the words you said. Thank you

The fact that simply saying "the Queen" is instantly recognisable as being a reference to Queen Elizabeth II is a testimony to her legacy. There's no other head of state anywhere in the world that can be known implicitly from the title save for the Pope.
