John Joseph Mearsheimer is an American political scientist and international relations scholar, who belongs to the realist school of thought. He is the R. Wendell Harrison Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago. John Joseph Mearsheimer has been described as the most influential realist of his generation. John Mearsheimer has been described as an "offensive realist" and more so a structural realist. Offensive realism holds that there is a need for security, and ultimately for survival, make states aggressive power maximizers. States do not cooperate, except during temporary alliances, but constantly seek to diminish their competitors' power and to enhance their own. John Mearsheimer's offensive neorealism intends to fix the "status quo bias" of Kenneth Waltz's defensive neorealism.

Neorealism or structural realism is a theory of international relations that emphasizes the role of power politics in international relations, sees competition and conflict as enduring features, and sees limited potential for cooperation.

Citizens of the United States are a quiet inward looking people. So I can see how this guy's ideas could gain popularity.

5:52 min ... marriage and divorce ... been there, done that, lost the t-shirt ... why do I get the feeling ... we'd be, or, that we are, commiserations buddies ... ? ...
Totality agree with the economic  argument ... otherwise ... how come so many corporate lawyers, courts and law suits?  ... hehehe ...also, families that divorce ... need more be said?

Back to International Relations ... John, what is your foreign policy?  Sounds like it is, "oh, I wanna know" and "Let's talk", but, the question is, is it "to think things over" and "heartache and pain" or "read between the lines" and " you know, you just can't hide"? ... "Oh, I wanna know". Yeah, well, "nowhere left to hide", " I wanna know".   John, you aren't by any chance a 'foreigner' to Australia?

"I Want to Know What Love Is", song by Foreigner?

9:44 min ... What where you saying about, "God helps those who help themselves"?

My self-help theory is, ask Mearsheimer, if it's ok to help myself to Mearsheimer.
Is that structurally realistic, or, realistically offensive, or, a great delusional?

Yeah, "I know you can show me (hey)".

"I don't know if I can face it again", then again, "can't stop now" ...

That's right ... it's called fear ...

Do you have to be right about everything ... lol ...
No, it's not fear about you being right about everything ... giggle ...
