Malwarebytes Antivirus Software Review: Does the free version offer enough protection? Watch to find out if it's all the protection you need!
Hey everyone, welcome back. And in today’s video, we’re gonna be talking about Malwarebytes free version and see whether or not it offers enough protection. Malwarebytes has been one of the most popular antivirus programs out there for a while now, especially known for its free version. But a lot of people who are new to antiviruses question whether or not a free version of the software would offer enough protection. So in this video, we’re gonna be talking about everything the free version has to offer and comparing it to its premium counterpart to help you make a more informed decision. But before we start, if you’d like to check out Malwarebytes for yourself, I’ll be leaving all the useful links, including discounts, in the description down below. Okay, so when it comes to plans, Malwarebytes has three different tiers: free, premium, and premium + privacy. And this is important to know since there are a bunch of features that are only available in the premium version of the service and kept away from the free version. When it comes to the free version, you’re only gonna get two types of scans, custom scans and full scans. These scans are actually rated some of the best on the market, scoring a whopping 98.8% when it comes to protection against 0-day malware attacks and 99.9% when it comes to detection of widespread and prevalent malware. Compared to the software’s below average results between 2018 and 2021. Other than the antivirus, you’re gonna get a web protection feature called Browser Guard that removes annoying ads and identifies and stops browser lockers and browser hijackers. And that’s pretty much it for the free version. It doesn’t offer a whole lot of security features and I wouldn’t quite say it offers as much protection as its premium counterpart. So what does Malwarebytes Premium have that the free version doesn’t? Well, for starters, it has a key feature that I believe all antivirus programs should have, and that is real time protection. This type of protection runs around the clock and keeps track of everything you do to protect you from potential malware. And so, by the time you realize something is wrong and you decide to run the full scan, the malware will have compromised your computer and caused irreparable damage. Another key feature locked behind the premium version would be the ability to run quick scans and schedule scans. And these two are extremely important since We don’t always have the time to run a full system scan. Sometimes we want to quickly scan our computers before heading out, and other times we’d want to schedule scans to start at times when our devices are not being used. Lastly, there are a whole bunch of settings that are exclusively available for the premium version. Such settings would include showing and hiding notifications, setting timing for threat intelligence updates, and the ability to unregister malwarebytes from the Windows security center. You also have one neat setting where Malwarebytes disables all notifications when you’re doing certain activities, such as watching movies or playing video games. Well, it depends on your activity. If you’re using the internet a lot on your computer and browsing the internet most of the time, I would say it doesn’t offer enough protection since you won’t have the real-time protection offered in the premium version. However, if you only use your computer for offline work and only access trusted websites, I would say its more than enough since you’ll only need to run a scan once or twice a month just to make sure everything is clean. But ultimately, I would recommend the premium version almost always, since you’ll have all the necessary protection features that would keep your device clean at all times. And that’s it for today’s video. If you guys are interested in Malwarebytes, I’ll leave all the useful links, including a discount, in the description down below. Also, If you liked the content or found it useful, make sure to like the video and subscribe to see more of it.
