Norton is really a HOG on PC resources. And they are ALWAYS trying to upsell you on products, Frankly its super annoying and I'm looking a Bitdefender going forward I think.

I'm personally trying to move away from Norton. I've used it for years because it's what my dad paid for. Now that I'm a Cybersecurity major I'm tryna take it more seriously; and Norton for me just wasn't working. I found out I got malware one time (from my own stupidity) but every norton scan I did didn't find anything. It wasn't til I downloaded Malwarebytes that it discovered dozens of malware files and removed them for free. I'm guessing all of those files weren't all new either, so Norton just didn't discover them for a while, even with regularly scheduled scans.

I'm no computer genius, but simply planting malware files on your computer and seeing if your antivirus can find them is no way to properly test an antivirus program. The malware files are inert and can't do anything to protect and hide themselves like they do when they're actually installed and running!
