Old Soviet Joke:
After the October Revolution the comrade Lenin met one of his allies carrying the new toilet paper. Lenin looked at him and his toilet paper and said:
"And you, dear comrade, are an optimist!"

Also make the newspaper sheets a little wet to prevent chafing.

I remember when I went to school in Mexico, and there was no toilet paper and all the students use pages of their notebook to wipe

There's barely any newspaper anymore. No problem, a bucket of water, a washcloth and dry towel near the toilet. Improvised bidet.

It’s amazing how crazy the human species is if you think about it like outside looking in, you know, these people lived in misery to the point where their culture reflects misery yet the fight and die spend their days actively fighting to keep it going. People actually love their country. Love the idea of going back to that, it’s insane a country a culture that doesn’t smile. Wow.

Truth. TP is to this day a luxury item in most of Russia. Also, newspapers and magazines are still quite plentiful in spite of being well into a digital age.

In Denmark more and more things are digital today including newspapers.
Idk I think my news apps won't really be helpful here 😅🤣😂

For those old enough to remember the old thick Sears and Roebuck catalogs, those would supply my Grandfather's outhouse with plenty of ummm toilet paper. 😅

I used to wonder why the SEARS & ROEBUCK catalog was in every outhouse. It wasn't reading material.
Fun fact: toilet wasn't guaranteed to be splinter free until the 1930's.

Probably less chaffing than the tracing paper and sandpaper toilet rolls. No nostalgia on these diabolical instruments of torture 😂😂😂
