Cold plunging is an excellent way to speed up the recovery of sore muscles, it might improve your immune system, and there are dozens of plungers who attest to it providing mental clarity. Cold plunges come in all shapes and sizes, from inflatable ones to those that resemble a bathtub, and then there are barrels like the Alaskan Cold Plunge.

This icy plunge consists of a Scandinavian Thermowood exterior and is insulated with a plastic-lined interior. While you will have to use a lot of water and ice (unless you opt for the more expensive model with a chiller), this is one of our favorite cold plunges on the market. Here's the breakdown of our video:

What type of stain would you recommend using ?

So if you get the chiller, then the hoses just hang over the side and get pinched by the lid? I am surprised there are no threaded connections for the chiller.

Also, it would be very easy to add a hose connection to that ball valve. Get yourself a short piece of pvc pipe and a female slip fitting to male garden hose adapter.

How can I plumb a chiller to a shower, such that a flip of a switch somewhere, the water coming out near ice-cold?

For example, if remodeling a bathroom, no walls, everything is down to the studs.. Is it possible to put a water chiller* inside the house? I like those recirculating pumps that go under the sink, but in this case I'd want to flip a switch to start the chiller and recirculate ice-cold water about half-an-hour before I'm going to need it.. and divert the showerhead to use this water.

Saw something similar in a video "Making Your Shower Deliver ICE COLD water for Wim Hof Cold Showers"

Any thoughts on how an ice-machine (ex. Euhomy / hOmeLabs Freestanding ) compares to a freezer chest? For example, the ice machine can fill its 30 pound canister in about 8 hours (100lbs/day), which I think is around 3.5 gallons of water. The yearly energy cost would be around $50 in my area. But will 30 pounds of ice be enough to get a 40 gallon tub with 65F water to < 50F (ideally 5C)? (Although Dave Asprey says just dunking one's head/hands/feet into ice-water just before bed is enough to get better sleep!) The Small portable Bathtubs (ex. Homefilos or the 85gallon Cold Pod) seem difficult to get in and out of. I've seen some videos (John Richter / Troy Delaney / Scott McGee) that recommend the Frigidaire 120 Gallon (FFFC15M4TW), but the ones from the Edge Theory Labs and The Plunge look really nice!

*Most of the chillers I've seen are meant for the whole house, I prefer something small, that can be indoors, and just provides enough flow for a shower (ex. ~2 Gallons per minute)... or chill and recirculate a 10 gallon reservoir?

I live in apartment and wondered if you have ever seen just a foot plunge but it’s chilled with electricity not ice

I’m curious to know how tall you are and when you put your shoulders under, was it easy? I like to be shoulders under, I’m 6 feet and wonder if it’s comfortable to sit all the way with shoulders under the water?
