I use a $50 Japanese bathing tub from Amazon. I keep 2 liter bottles of water in my garage freezer, put them in at night, it is 40-45 degrees for my morning cold dunk. It doesn’t have to be such a big deal, really it does not.❤️🔥

I started with cold showers, then ice blocks in baths. Finally bought a chest freezer, sealed with bathroom sealent, an aquirium thermostat and ozene generator. Total cost $400 all in.
Works perfectly and as its in the garage during the winter i dont have to chill it.

Building the habit first before buying is a really simple but valuable tip!

I just bought a 100 gal Rubbermaid tub, penguin chiller, pump and filter and built mine. Wasn’t too hard. Learned something in the process and it works fine so far. Just did a 34 degree plunge this morning

I’m broke, and I do cold plunges every day. Bathtub is perfect. Run the tap as cold as it goes, and depending where you live that’s probably plenty cold. I also have ten ice cube trays and a large tray/bucket that’s holds 20ish trays worth of ice. I just keep that bucket filled with ice, keep it in the freezer, and add it to the water when I need to. You don’t have to spend a ton of money to practice self care. Honestly, i guarantee anyone can do this with colder water than they can handle for under $50.

We even manage to make sitting in cold water expensive. They're always trying to sell you something

i just have a metal tub that sits outside so overnight it get super cold especially since its winter right now...during the summer people can fill 2 liter bottles with water and put them in your freezer overnight, that way you can put them in you bath like 30 minutes before you take one. you dont need to spend thousands to take ice baths

Don't buy ice to fill up the bath tub. Just fill up a bunch of water bottles instead. It's been working for me years and costs nothing. Your welcome 😉

Another option....Get the feed trough. Get a chest freezer. Get plastic 1 gallon jugs like what milk comes in. Fill the jugs with water and freeze them in the chest freezer. Take out half of them and put them in the feed trough that has water in it approx. 30 mins. before your ice bath. (This of course depends on the temperature of the water and how cold you want to get the water.) Then after your ice bath...put full jugs back in the chest freezer. Something not talked about is energy cost. If one lives in a hotter climate and cold tub is outdoor, then it will cost more energy to get the water cold.

For those using their tub, do not buy ice. Simply save your water or pop bottles and reuse them as ice packs.

I live in a small apartment with no space so my solution is useing my bathtub and to avoid the cost of ice I went to a cheap store and bought loads of refreezeable ice packs used for picnics and one of my freezer drawers is filled with them and each morning I throw them in the bath then after I dry them off and refreeze them after 😀

Doesn't have to be an ice bath to get the benefits. Just a cold plunge works wonders. Cold bathtub water with a single bag of ice 3 times a week is near miraculous for muscle recovery.

I use a metal live stock tank. I have it next to my hose (on a well) the water comes out at 55 degrees. I just drain it and fill it up each time. Never gets warm, never gets dirty. Hooked the drain to a hose and fill containers to freeze for colder water also water the plants and animals!

Rubbermaid is <$100, and Plunge is $5000. Even if we believe the high end companies have great warranties, how many rubbermaids would one have to break before it matters? I think it would be rather hard to break a low-tech industrial grade tank in the first place, but even then, you're only out 90 bucks. To me, the social optics of a more fashionable tub aren't worth 50X the cost. Also, I see some folks solving the ice cost problem by using water bottles as reusable ice "batteries". I default to the KISS strategy, and leverage my surplus $4900 to other endeavors.

A U.S. made, hard plastic 100 gall. rain barrel costs around $315. Many of the suppliers are in New Mexico and ship anywhere. Cheaper option.

The most cost efficient & economical if you have to buy ice imo is get a cheap $250 chest freezer, edge seal the seems with underwater JB Weld, and final Coat with non toxic pond seal. The weild & seal will cost you another $150 probably because I need a lot of the weild but will make that tub last for years from what I've heard. I got the ink bird digital tempera controller but haven't decided to get an ozone yet

I just freeze a case of bottled water. Take half and drop them in, freeze them after and keep reusing them. Super cheap and works fine.

Use a chest freezer on a timer switch.
Best feature?
Stays cold all day (5 degrees C) for around 1 hour of electricity use.

Living in Illinois in the winter now has its benefits! No ice needed. Fill the barrel w water and the cold weather will bring the water temp down

I need to get back into ice baths. But funny story, when I first got started with them, I was taking cold showers. I really thought to myself, "why does everyone think this is so terrible". But it wasn't about 6 months later when I got relocated for work, to move from Phoenix (no wonder there was no cold water) to Denver. Cold showers vary greatly depending where you live. Soon realized, it was much colder than I was use to, but all the same amazing benefits!
