I eye-rolled when the secretary-general spoke about ending the war quickly. America has more of a say in when this war ends - more than Russia and more than Ukraine. The US has been waiting for a chance to diminish Russia's position in the world and weaken them since the end of WWII. It seems that goal is more important than ending the war. The irony here is that the UN has no influence over the U.S - in fact, it's the very opposite. If he's interested in peace then he should consult with the US-led NATO and speak to them about their imperial, hegemonic and expansionist ambitions.
