TWO reasons why you CANNOT sharpen all Silky Saws

1) The teeth on most saws are too small to sharpen

2) Non-Sharpenable Silky's have impulsed hardened tips on their teeth so they are harder than a file. (Diamond file the exception)

When sharpening a blade you will require a lot of patience, but it is worth the effort!
Silky Japan recommends that you only file the top edge the first 2 times that you sharpen a blade. Do not attempt the side angles as this will dramatically alter the way it cuts. Only do that on the 3rd or 4th sharpen.

You can sharpen hardened saw teeth ! But not with a steel file but with a diamond file you sure can :)

A torch will take the temper right out so you can sharpen.
If the blade's worn out and dull anyway what do you have to lose?
It won't last as long as a new one does but at these prices you'll sure get a lot of good use out of it!
The angles of the teeth cut are the real challenge.

So if u sharpen a bigboy 2000, with a diamond shape, Diamond file would it effect the impulsive hardened teeth in any way?

So... I have an impact hardened Gomboy and the curved handled one too.. The curve one cuts excellently but the Gomboy pocket one is far from good..
If the tips are damaged, why can't I resharpen them and effectively lose the hardened tip but gain the ability to touch the blade up from time to time...?
There is no way I'm throwing a £50 saw out after a year and a half use every time..
Or is there a way to "dress" the tips just to get back to the excellent action it had when I bought it...

I just got meself a Gomboy 240mm, tried it out today with one log and oh lord, it felt like cutting thru butter....how long will this saw last me? Any amount of calculated " passes " it can give in optimal performance? Dunno just wondering haha im no xpert :P thxxx!
