If you want to know everything and I mean everything about Mary please read The Mystical City of God. Written by the venerable Maria of Agreda in order of the holy mother herself. Everything from just before her immaculate conception till her assumption is there. All your questions will be answered. Hail Mary most pure, pray for us.

Joel Osteen was the executive producer of this movie, whos not a Catholic. I did watch it, & i did not like it at all. The "Angel" in the desert who appeared to Joachim was very creepy looking & had strange writings on his hand. I definitely dont think an Angel of God would act like this, or wear a blue cape. Deeply disturbing to me was how scared & sad Mary & her parents were when they presented Mary to the temple. When the The "Angel Gabriel" apeared it was not Holy or Glorious, it was in a dark cave...many other things, definitely did not show Our Blessed Mother as Sinless, & Immaculately Conceived in a Holy Way. Sorry, i would definitely not recommend watching it, we need much more Holier movies, thank you for listening, God Bless

Review of the movie MARY by Catholic Study Fellowship

A lot controversies surrounded this movie even before it was released and catholics were asked to boycott it. I decided to see it and write a review so you know whether it'd be worth your time or not. So here it goes:
1. The movie depicted the Blessed Virgin as overly outspoken, brazen, argumentative and even defiant. We all know she was meek, humble, obedient and a woman of few words. Mary was a simple maiden, this character was too complicated.

2. Can we talk about how Angel Gabriel was depicted in the movie? How erroneous! He was more like a disturbing creepy unfamiliar spirit dressed in the most unsettling ugly shade of blue. It was like he was acting on his own orders and not that of God. The annunciation scene was over before it began. Mary's response was "let it be me". Wrong.

3. In the movie, Mary was given to her parents on the condition that she becomes the one to fulfill "the promise". That is wrong. She was not given in exchange for anything. She was also depicted as a mere vessel and not the Mother of God.

4. In the movie, the Blessed Virgin was depicted to be scared of the devil. He tried to tempt her and even carried her off when she was in labour. This is an error, if not blasphemy. Mary is not scared of the devil. It is the other way round. Although St Joseph slaying the devil is testament to his title "terror of demons".

5. St Joachim the father of Mary did not lose his life while trying to protect her from nomads who were after her life. He died of natural causes.

6. In the Bible, Joseph was instructed in his dream to accept Mary as his wife even though she was with child. The Joseph in this movie did that of his own free will.

7. The movie made it seem like Mary was carrying a baby nobody knew nothing about. The message of the angel was vague and ambiguous, someone who doesn't know the Christmas story would miss it.

8. Too much creative liberties were taken causing the entire narrative to change. The movie lacks the usual Christmas feel, the one that makes you happy and joyfully look forward to Christmas.

Although the acting was quite impressive, I would rate it a 1/10 for biblical accuracy. I don't know what I watched but it definitely wasn't the Christmas story.

I cancelled Netflix years ago so I can’t watch it, but I’m very very happy and relieved that it is much better than it could have been.

Watched today. Loved it. BTW, St. Joseph is called "the terror of demons" so the portrayal of him going to battle as violently as he did felt as authentic as him being a patient and chaste spouse to Mary. His one job was to protect the Holy Family from all the forces of evil coming at them relentlessly, and he did that. He loved Mary and Jesus so he would do anything to protect them. The movie did such a great job (and yes in a purposely exaggerated way) showing the extreme evilness abound that did not want Jesus to come into the world. So it took someone who was mighty in both power and love as Joseph was portrayed. Biblically, we know next to nothing about Joseph, so he has been portrayed many ways, sometimes as a very old feeble man, which could not be since he journeyed far with them. In The Chosen, Nativity movie he was more like big brother and there was no romance at all. I think this movie is right on target with portraying how Joseph could love Mary and she him without needing intimacy. Aside from that Anthony Hopkins was amazing as sociopath King Herod, and loved the actors who played Mary and Jospeh.

10:25 - 11:15 I agree Jesus did not harm Mary during birth. It was done through transfiguration like light (bright and weightless) passing through glass. Jesus exhibited this ability several times in the Bible, e.g. transfiguration in the mountain with three disciples by becoming dazzling light, walking on water, resurrection and ascension.

When did Herod ever meet Mary, never! Herod was dead by the time she and Joseph came back to Egypt. Joseph would not ask Mary that question. Joseph has been prepared for this role. Read Maria Valtorta’s description. “Light from light.” Mary is suffused in light at the virginal birth. This is fabricated, fiction and neither based on scripture or dogma and therefore blasphemy. One of the sorrows of Our Lady that she asked us to make reparation for sins against her virginal birth.

I will NOT watch it. I do not support Netflix! That's why I'm not watching. But also the errors that I saw on the previews. There could be a lot of good things and some truths but even one lie will have me not watching. But like I said, it's on Netflix and I do not support Netflix.

Mary is GODs Divine Masterpiece 🕊️✨🌹St. Venantius Fortunatus said, "O Mother blest! And chosen Shrine wherein the Architect Divine, Whose Hand contains the earth & sky vouchsafed in hidden guise to lie; Blest in the message Gabriel brought; blest in the work, the Spirit wrought; Most blest, to bring to human birth, the long desired of all the earth!"
On This beautiful & Holy Day of Our Lady's Immaculate Conception which we venerate Today, & from the Miraculous Medal~ "O Mary, conceived without sin, Pray for us who have recourse to Thee, Amen!

10:50 revelation 12:2 She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth.

Genisis 3: 16 I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children.

I am interpreting this as, before the fall there might have been labour pain however, it might have not been this bad or this complex.

Mom might have not experienced the same labour as my biological mother might have experienced. But there would have been pain.
