In the trailer when the angel tells Mary that she will have a son, she says, “This is not possible.” This statement indicates doubt. However, in Luke 1:34, she actually says, “How can this be?” She didn’t doubt that God could do it, she just didn’t know HOW God could do it. It’s a subtle but important difference. In the scriptures Mary is shown to trust God, but in the media she is shown to doubt God. For the Truth, we must read the Word and keep our eyes on Jesus!

Edit: As someone in the comments below pointed out, the word “can” does indicate doubt. Apologies for using a different translation. When looking at the KJV, Mary asks, “How shall this be.” Shall indicates something will definitely happen, so Mary did not doubt that God could make her conceive, she just didn’t know how. Please see my response below for a more thorough explanation. God bless!

“All things are possible”❌
“With GOD, all things are possible”✅

Little, but astronomical difference.

I have a very hard time believing Netflix is going to do this correctly

We tried watching Mary last night. We turned it off 20 minutes in about where Mary was in a convent and Lucifer comes to her along with Gabriel. Non of this is in the Bible. And it felt very blasphemous. We will stick to The Nativity movie. So much better and accurate.

My gut tells me, just based on this trailer alone, that they're going to play up the 'girl power' element here, and not in a Biblically accurate way, but in a modern 21st century way.

Just watched the movie. While I applaud Netflix for producing a movie on this topic, this is a bad movie because it adds fantastical elements to the biblical story, it leaves parts out of the biblical story and it flat out gets part of the biblical story wrong.

I am watching the movie and in awe, that they were able to distort history so badly. I believe Mary's testimony is so precious why make such a creepy mock out of it?

The trailer looks like Mary running away from an evil king and meeting the seven dwarves in a remote town and then finding his prince.

The best portrayal of Our Lady is in the Passion of The Christ.

God does work in mysterious ways. Perhaps a Netflix movie about a biblical story will spark someone to read the Bible and find God. All things are possible with God. God bless. ❤

Why do people want to add to the bible story when the Bible is enough!

You can tell from the trailer that there are lots of scenes that are not biblical and only based on speculation of what "may have happened." It is very difficult to make an entire movie just about Mary based on the Bible because the Bible actually has very few references to her.

By the way, "Love will save the world" is a very New Age thing to say.

Netflix definitely messed this up, so disappointed! I turned it off because it was totally not based on the Bible 😞

I love that God does meet with us to show us the truth if we come before Him and lay down our pride and humbly ask for Him to show us. God delights in revealing truth. Maranatha.
