I think all EU member have to join Schengen. But now UK, Ireland, Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria this five EU members still not join Schengen.

Amazing that the open borders issues has allowed terrible terrorist events to easily occur all over the continent, ie. Paris, Barcelona, Nice, Brussels, Berlin, Cologne, sadly the list goes on. In the Balkans we are seeing nations re-erect border walls in an attempt to stem the flow of new arrivals into Europe from Africa & the Middle East, so saying that it has been a success is questionable.
