President-elect Donald Trump has said he can end the war in Ukraine in one day. This is unlikely.

But with his recent appointment of a retired general to be his envoy in the region, we now know a bit more about how America could approach negotiations.

The root cause of this war still remains. No deal.

Does Russia even care about what America/Nato thinks?

Peace is not a cease-fire.

So basically for Ukraine : give up NATO membership, give up the territories, against some us military help packages that should be provided anyway given the garantees already given by the US since the 90s. That would be as SHAMEFUL as it gets.

That won't end the conflict though, as the conventional war ends the unconventional war will begin, until the next conventional war.

Russia will never agree to this. Their biggest concern was Ukraine not to join NATO. This doesnt solve that problem, just postpones it

It's a useless ceasefire. It's just gives the Russian time to build up their army.

Big problem with a ceasefire, is that while the fighting stops. Both sides use he lull to build up their forces, ammunition etc. and when one is sat, the ceasefire breaks down and the fighting recommences. The upshot is that the fighting is fiercer, goes on for longer, and ultimately more people die, or get maimed.

This deal would be alike handing the Guilty country Russia the better deal and handing the innocents the Bad deal . Terrible .

If Ukraine cant win the war, why would Russia agree to a Ukrainian / West center negotiated cease-fire, when it has the advantage. Ukraine giving up its bid for Nato membership for 10 years is a pointless negotiating angle because Russia knows that Nato would more then likely welcome them immediately after that period has past. Meanwhile Ukraine would be armed, trained and build up more defensive positions during that period while planning an offensive to potentially reclaim the lost territory.

There is no way that Ukraine should accept to give it's land up without allowing what remains in their hand to join NATO.. but in the end they will be forced to be the almighty Americans.. This should serve as a lesson for us Europeans.. We need to pull our pants up and become tough and strong on our own.. We cannot continue to be so subservient to the USA.
