I've had this issue two separate times several years apart. (Multi cylinder misfire, with shuttering) Both times the fix was actually just the boots and not the coil pack. It's worth doing a boot swap before spending money on coils. Only difference was i never threw a code for a specific cylinder just a p0300. Its possible to swap the boots without taking the intake off, but it was very frustrating. Had to separate the boot from the coilpack while still in the sparkplug tube, and install the boot first then assemble it back onto the coil pack while it was inside the sparkplug tube. May have been faster to just take the plenum off because i fought it forever lol. Thanks for the videos, you have helped me get through many repairs.

I have this same issue on my 2008 Frontier. Started with Cylinder 3 misfire. Threw a coil pack on it and it fixed it, then two weeks later my drive to work was just like yours. doing full plugs and coils now. The plugs are trashed probably the originals 140k miles old at this point. gotta put the the intake back on in the morning and testing it.

My 05’ Xterra had a misfire, P0300 and P0420. Previous owner replaced cats fairly recently they look brand new. So it better not be cats. Replaced with new coils and plugs and no more misfire or codes, for now…I’m approaching 200, 000 miles. Edit: The cats were shot. Completely gone. No honey comb left. Replaced with cheap coils and spark plugs because I needed to drive to work and back. No more misfiring. Fast forward to today I have the same code P0300. No Cat codes thankfully. Gonna replace my could and spark plugs again with denso. Cats were replaced as well.

Hello, I have a 2008 Nissan Frontier that it has a multiple misfire. I have changed the spark plugs and coils but is still misfiring. What would be the next step to look for and thank you for all your great content.

If you can wait two to three days Amazon would have your best deal on a set of coil packs.

Ohh lucky you got a code. Mine is subtle when load is applied i think it’s a crank sensor.

I just changed the plugs on my 05 X. I didn't need coils but I definitely changed the most difficult coil. The one we all know is a huge pain. Only did the one, with an OEM part. My worries are soothed for the time being.

Have 305 flashing at me now, amazoned a hitachi and ngk plugs .did plugs less than 2 yrs ago so fairly confident its coil#5 so plugs are probably for next full change..plus i believe #5 coil pack cracked slightly (was #1 at the time but moved it to 5 for ease of removal in case it went bad ) so again am crossing fingers its coil and nothing further beyond spark issue

got the same dreaded P0300 code on my 2006 Nissan Xterra. just did the valve cover gasket . MAF was replaced because there was a code.. Now the P0300 is on, no more MAF sensor code

I had 3 codes this morning, p0300, p0303, and p0133, I made a huge mess a couple times in the engine bay so I’m think I probably got a 02 sensor wet cuz the 0133 is new at the moment. I replaced the spark plugs since they’re cheap and #3 was in bad shape, codes cleared but p0303 and p0300 stayed. So I swapped the coils from #3 with #5 and the p0303 went away but now I’m left with p0300 multiple banks misfire. And I’m getting a lot of white smoke from passenger side and tail pipe. No significant loss of coolant judging by the overflow tank. Am I burning oil ? And potentially ruining my cats in the process ? Is it fuel injector time ?

My 05 Pathfinder started up the other day doing the same thing. It stopped after a restart. At 200k miles, I think it is time to invest in a code reader.

I am getting misfire on cyl 1. The hardest one to get to. Would you replace the coil anyway just so I don’t have to get in there again?

I am getting a P0300 and things improved by replacing all the plugs that were fouled from an internal oil leak, not sure the source of the leak but appears to be the valve cover gasket and possibly a blown head gasket. But going down that road means timing job and might as well replace the valve stem seals that came with the timing kit. I am ready to breathe new life into my six speed 114k miles 2007 Xterra - Basecamp (X) trim 4WD. I have been getting a squealing noise towards the back shortly after startup when the vehicle is not moving; any ideas are appreciated.

Ry, have you ever considered replacing the faded corner pieces of the window seals? Are those even available for replacement?

Usually it’s a bad coil boot if you get a specific cylinder and the boots are far cheaper than the coil. Look for a hole on the side of the boot near the bulb end that goes onto the plug. Swap boots with another coil and reset codes, if the misfire is now on the other cylinder only then it’s the boot.

2007 Xterra was running rough last week. P0301- cylinder one misfire was coming up. I replaced spark plug then it wouldn't start once I got it all back together. Finally started with a jump and then stalled out when driving. Wouldn't start after letting it sit on the cables for 30 minutes. Got it back to the garage and replaced the ignition coil too (as well as all the other spark plugs while I was at it) and it still won't start. Battery tested good. Any clue on what the issue could be? Is it related to the work I did? Or completely unrelated? Any help is appreciated! Thanks
