Understanding the Biology of Alzheimer's Disease with Neuroscience
Показать описание
Recorded at the Dementia Research Charity #Chatathon 2022 - Adam Smith interviews Dr Mark Dallas, Associate Professor in Cellular Neuroscience at University of Reading and Dr Richard Lofthouse, Research Fellow at University of Aberdeen & TauRx.
Dr Mark Dallas - Our research looks at non neuronal cells and the role they play in both initiating and progressing dementia. In particular we are looking at the role of microglia in regulating the inflammatory status of the drive and revealing the balance between good and bad inflammation. This is explored in the lab using a range of techniques looking at the changes in cellular function under disease relevant conditions.
Dr Richard Lofthouse - I am working on Biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease. We are researching tau antibodies and their use in different combinations to determine the fragmentation profile of tau in health and disease.

The 2022 Dementia Research Charity Chatathon LIVE was held on Friday 2nd December - A non-stop 12.5 hours livestream hosted by Adam Smith interviewing 68 Dementia Researchers and Special Guests working across all areas of discovery to beat Alzheimer's disease and all forms of dementia.
Raising money for research and providing insights into the latest research taking place across the UK and Worldwide. This year we are raising money for four amazing charities who all fund research - Alzheimer's Research UK, Alzheimer's Society, Race Against Dementia and The Lewy Body Society.
