My mother is now well into the end stage. Watching a loved one go through this is the hardest thing I've ever had to do.

My Dad is experiencing this currently!! And, I swear it's the hardest thing to see happen. My heart is breaking everyday.

My mother is into the moderate stages of this disease. It's no fun to watch a loved one deteriorate mentally.
What's frustrating is that even if a drug stops or even eliminates plaques and tangles, the damage is already done by the time the dementia is noticed. It's not something that just starts happening and the symptoms crop up in days/weeks/months. Now that I know what to look for, I see that my mother was showing precursor symptoms as much as 10 - 15 years ago.

I’m currently researching and developing drugs for AD and I can say that the general field of autophagy research looks promising for future AD patients.

I first witnessed this horror in my boyfriend's dad. He passed away in 2016, and now I am seeing it in his mom. Scary stuff. 😮

A great review spiced with some "just out of the press" research.

My 94 year old mother has stage 4/5 Alzheimers and now lives in a Care Home. She was first diagnosed in 2014 with MCI. Mother now relies on a wheeled walking frame and is very much institutionalised. She is not the mother or grandmother we all knew years ago. We lose more of her each time we visit. Her moments of lucidity are infrequent whilst her repetition and confusion are prevalent. Mother knows she will not be coming home and we now face the enormous task of funding her care. Her bungalow and all savings will be used to contribute towards this. If mother had capacity, she would be horrified.

much institutionalised.

Spectacular! Dementia isn't fun to have as well or just being senile or going crazy.

I wish someone would write captions for these, some words are hard to hear clearly and it makes it hard to understand :(
