Quiet quitting can be a survival tactic in a toxic workplace.

People are tired of being exploited by corporations.
People have seen the reality. If these corporations actually gave the raises they promise or give the promotions maybe people wouldn't be doing this, but the fact is corporations don't. They just expect you to go above and beyond indefinitely with no reward for it.

Not getting proper compensation for doing the job you were hired for is why we are “quiet quitting”. If you expected more work, pay more. It’s that simple

So for your corporate job (possibly main job) - If you don't go above and beyond than what you currently do, how do you get to learn from experience and be competent to do the job to get promoted to?

Are side hustles something everyone should be doing instead?

I work a second and third job as side hustled that i enjoy outside of my regular job. And ironically i make more money at my side hustles daily than i do at my regular job 😂

Just do your job and you will get promoted. Unless you are in a really bad company that doesn’t recognize good workers in which case, leave. But in most cases if you just do the job that you agreed to do, you will get promoted because most employees don’t even do that.

It's called mediocrity. I will never be satisfied living a life of mediocrity.
