Is Quantum in the room with us right now?

Theres no denying quantum mechanics has a reputation. "Spooky, incomprehensible, unintuitive," are some of the words most commonly associated with quantum. So how can we expect to build a technology with it? Well surprise! Turns out we already have! In this video, Olivia goes through some favorite examples of modern day technology that would not exist without the development of quantum mechanics, and how we know these theories are even accurate. Don't be afraid, anyone can learn quantum!

Thank you! I keep ranting at people about this too! 😂

Should have mentioned use of quantum mechanics in drug design (Docking, Molecule Dynamics, Ab Inition Quantum Chemistry, or even something as "simple" as Lewis structures)

Keep pushing forward! Your material is both enriching and thought provoking! Outstanding job!

You always just need a box to discuss quantum physics 😅

@ 1:09 is the most accurate description of string theory I've heard yet.

I could listen to her speak all day. A fascinating subject that I hope to learn more about.

I believe quantum computing / "Quantum Programming Languages" will be necessary for each Futuristic company
to handle:
1) Printed Building
2) Software System Service
3) MN's
4) Cyber Security
5) Small System Loops
6) Blockchain
I am so hyped, about joining the "Qiskit community" from now on.

Quantum mechanics is the best physics mathematical description of our understanding of how the world moves and acts today.

Every day quantum mechanics and we all be good! Thank you for these details. Qiskit <3

Insightful! I'm curious, why isn't the "measurement problem" simply the superpositioned object demonstrating its entanglement with the environment where the measurement occurs? But like you said, we don't have to know.

0:34 now you made this up. The word I mean.

What's quantum mechanics without its trusty cardboard box

What about how much computation power you got at the push of a button, thats the spooky thing.

Quantum reminds me of Magic in a way just saying…

it isn't spooky as long as you don't mention entanglement .all those examples you showed, none is based on entanglement principle .

Trust me, we would NOT describe Nature in such unintuitive terms if ANYBODY could come up with an intuitive description that agrees with what we see. Many have tried and Nature refuses to obey any of them. But, describing what Nature is NOT really is not very useful.

Not everything is as it seems - Quantum Electrodynamics is rotten at the core (YouTube)

Fan Boi gushing. "this slice of bread is Quantum. with it i can make this yummy sammy, that makes Quantum the most important thing in the universe" (sliced bread)
quoting a hero of mine, "if you can't explain something simply, you probably don't understand it" Feynman!
"everything is quantum, and always has been" allows me to exit this video dumber than when i started watching.
"understand how to use..." sums up the entire point being made here.
you've turned "quantum" into a hocus pocus buzz word with your poorly thought out "would not exist" analogies.

the spooky or the BS part has nothing to do with your examples . Bell's theorem or "entanglement" is where the spooky part starts .And quantum entanglement principle was never used in any current products .Quantum computers are the only things that i know of that in theory will use the entanglement principle .Today they are simply expensive "do nothing" machines without any proven use cases .
