Elton John - Sixty Years On (demo 1969) With Lyrics!

A Beautiful Piano & Vocal demo by Elton John, recorded at Dick James Studios in 1969 or 1970. The song was included on the album "Elton John." Supposedly Bernie Taupin wrote the words with his grandfather in mind. Elton's original music, heard on here on the demo, was dominated by very active broken chords on the piano. This is how he performed it also in the early days. On the album the music became very orchestral, dominated by harp and cello. Arranger Paul Buckmaster has expressed dissatisfaction with what he referred to as his "1930s horror movie score."

"You've hung up your gray coat and you've laid down your gun", I believe is a reference to the blue and gray coats that the north and the south soldiers wore in the civil war .  Gray being the Confederate Army of the Southern States and blue the Union or Yankeeys . Great video very well done love the photos, Elton John is amazing one of my most favorite singers and musicians ! Thanks for the beautiful post !
