Aquarium coop test strips are excellent and best value I have found, they are accurate.

Personally I have never been able to detect any nitrate with test strips. I have tried API and other brands available here in Asia and same result. The only way I can detect Nitrate seems to be with the API liquid tests kit. I get very low readings in my planted tanks as expected and really high readings with my overstocked, unplanted mbuna and oscar tanks.

I have just ordered some strips from Aquarium Coop at quite the expense (shipping to Philippines) and hoping they can give me better results. Using the liquid test works great but with 15 tanks it is not so much fun.
