I want to hear all the cool materia combos YOU have figured out because I want to definitely try out your suggestions as well. Let me know!

some tips for the settings
1- set the combo settings to free: Changing it to "free" allows you to change targets during the combo using the left stick. This allows you to more easily attack a group of enemies.
2- set battle camera distance to 3: this solves most problems with the camera allowing you to see the attack text from the enemies and boss before the attack animations Begin.
3- change target Lock change to directional buttons: it's allows to rotate the camera when Lock on, without Changing the target

This really makes me wish that the game had an option to save materia and equipment loadouts.

Cloud triangle parry window info is priceless, thank you

When Barret does his basic attack combo, you can press triangle during his reload animation to ALSO reload Firestrike. This gives him easily the fastes ATB generation of all characters.

Magnify + Time is my favourite for Haste All and slow/stop all

I fell in love with the Pray materia and I bet it's super valuable in hard mode, since it allows you to heal your whole party without using any mana. What I kept doing is farm ATB with Tifa between casts with other players so I could save mana for offensive spells. So I would basically cast spells with Aerith, deal as much damage as possible with Cloud, and between all the animations I'd switch to Tifa to autoattack and get the 2 ATB bars required for Pray (I did this with Tifa cause I feel like she's the easiest to quickly get ATB with).

Another good tip I would give is, give Aerith Refocus and equip her with the necklace that fills her ATB gauge upon triggering it. That gives her 3 filled up ATB bars instantly. Use the first one for the Ward, then the other 2 for your most powerful spell. She will cast 4 times at the cost of 2.

I subscribed after watching Cloud self-destruct also:

Tifa learns a move called True Strike, which increases the stagger by 20%, so doing it twice will get you to 200% for the parry materia mission.

Parry is actually super useful on Cloud for 2 reasons. First, it allows him to dodge and move around in punisher mode without switching back, making up for its lack of mobility. Second, attacking after the parry skips to the last couple hits of your basic attack combo (aka the strong ones). On top of it being useful for the block during a dodge, I would say it's worth it on Tifa and Cloud. Tifa's parry animation is a slide attack that blocks damage, deals damage, and it's faster than dodging or running. You can zip around the battlefield with parry and take reduced damage while you're at it.

Also to add some tips:
Barret has a much quicker reload animation if you press triangle directly after ANY of his abilities or his final basic attack combo hit. You should be pressing triangle after every ability or full square combo every time it's on cooldown. Overcharge will be up much more frequently that way and it will lead to more ATB charge and pressure potential.

Tifa benefits greatly from the ATB Assist materia, as well as the ATB Stagger materia. Her entire design revolves around using her abilities back to back and increasing stagger damage bonus. These materia fit perfectly since you'll want to have ATB when you stagger an enemy for True Strikes, and using unbridled strength twice in a row or starshower + an ability will happen multiple times a fight. I like to have First Strike as well on Tifa and open with double unbridled strength to boost my allies ATB right off the bat.

Nice, here's one that I haven't seen anywhere: pressing circle right when your character falls and touches the ground (after an enemy attack) will allow your character to get up quickly. Works best with Tifa and worst with Barret.

Good video, I wasn't aware of the punisher counter when switching. Small, fairly obvious tip, when I find new weapons I go out of my way to make use of the weapon's ability to gain the proficiency asap. Pretty nice skills to have on hand and save a little MP early on.

One very useful purpose for the parry materia i found is to use it to cancel cloud's punisher mode attacks. When you're in a combo, it locks you into an animation which prevents you from dodging, which parry materia cancels for you. You can use this to dodge powerful attacks that you see coming but cant dodge out because youre in your combo

The parry materia is great on Tifa, she turns into a machine with it. You can't stop her!

You can use Self Destruct without fear by combining Enemy Skill + Hp absorb and Subversion + Warding on Armor. SD does damage to you but that isn't what kills you, the Death status effect does. Subversion+ Warding Immunes Death and the Hp absorb allows you to heal almost all your health back especially in multi target scenarios.

Thundaga + Magnify + Arcane Ward = Thunderstorm.

Now there's the kind of info I was looking for! Insightful, smart and detailed, just how I like it! Thanks for the vid man, would love to see you make more on this game about some of the more advanced tactics in this game, once you become more familiar with it that is.

My 2 favorite combos:

Tifa: Light attacks + Uppercut + Downkick. If you open the command menu and use downkick while she's in the air from uppercut, she'll use it immediately as she goes back to the ground.
Cloud: First Strike + Triple Slash. This will carry you through every non-boss fight in hard mode unless it's airborne or a sort of mini-boss (Sweeper, Cutter, etc). If you start a fight with a couple light attacks, you can use Triple Slash twice in a row and end all those fights before they even start, saving a ton of HP and MP.
