To offer the other perspective for the menu cursor settings, I *always* use forget. The reason is that I tend to rely on muscle memory more than my eyes or my working memory to perform actions in menus, because it tends to be faster and more reliable on average.

For example, in the original FF7, I knew if I was going to use an item, I press up and O right away, or down and O to get to magic, and similarly for navigating within those menus. After playing for a few hours, I don't even think about the inputs because I can automatically navigate quickly to whichever command I want to use.

If it was on remember, then I (ironically) need to remember what my last action with that character was in order to adjust my inputs properly so that I do the right thing. It's slightly faster when you need to use the same command many turns in a row, but I don't tend to play like that, so the benefit is minimal.

Of course, it comes down to preference, but if you're someone who relies on muscle memory for menu navigation, keep it on forget.

I do have one question: I've finally bought a TV that supports 4K, and thus also HDR. I swear I once heard you say that the HDR for the game is too much and that you'd recommend that just setting it for the standard SDR. Or something? I can't find the video where you mentioned the bit about the HDR, so I wanted to know what you would recommend 😅

Too bad that I didn't see this video before I started playing FF7 Remake. I pretty much spent most of the first day making the adjustments that you spoke of in the game. It plays much more better now that I've made the adjustments to the settings. 👍

Thanks BltzZ, on hard mode I found these issues really pissing me off to a point where my hard playthrough increased by 20 hours due to my shitty default settings

I really suggest turning off environment subtitles too, you see so many times where an npc will say the same thing when you pass them multiple times and it helps to have them off for greater immersion.

Wow, I never realized how much these little changes can help you out in the game, I need to change to all these settings whenever I get back into Remake...especially that one with the camera, cause when you're trying to switch to enemies with the right joystick...omg it can be so damn annoying...the directional buttons make a lot more sense, and should make it a lot more fluent, just as all these changes will...that will probably be the first thing I change...thx a lot

Great video exposing the options; it can be confusing for new people.
For 2:00 Lock-On Controls, targeting after lock on, I think that it depends on the type of player that you are.
For Right Stick, the camera will follow the target with this option.
For Left and Right Directional Buttons, the camera will not follow the target, and you’ll have to control this manually with the Right Stick.
If you’re the type of person to pause frequently, I found that pausing and targeting different things gave me an adequate view of the battlefield.
If you needed more angles, you could switch characters and have them change targets, and this is still all under one pause.
But if you want that full 360 control of the camera, I can see someone wanting the typical Right Stick control.
Though, I found Left and Right Directional Buttons to be more comfortable than Up and Down for rapid character switching.

BltzZ my bro. This video is AMAZING! I did most of that on my first playthrough but would probably completely forget to toggle it in Intergrade. Also, I didn't knew about all the freedom you get with some of those.
