I have lots more to do though, I have a new electrical system, using Victron components and a Lithium LIFEPO4 battery, so I obviously need to install some power devices. I have a new sound system, with Focal speakers and ibus 2.1 amp, Playstation PS4, which is removable, TV's on headrests.

What a great reflection of the reality of being a van dealer thanks for telling it as it is. Many blame us but we have struggled and it’s a constant battle to deliver great product at sensible prices with great warranty cover

It has been covered on other YT channels how prices have risen faster than wages and now the finance costs have doubled as wel;, it's a recipe for disaster

The biggest crime of cheaper conversion companies is using the base model VW T26 ....once converted with all of the interior etc it's pushing the van up to maximum capacity or over the limit once loaded with people and camping equipment etc making it overweight and dangerous

I’ve made a camper out of my Old Ford galaxy and it’s got a bed and leisure battery and a tv and portable cooker.. I’ve put a roof tent on too so that it’s a two person camper and all of that was around £6k. I’ve had it for two years now and it’s been absolutely fantastic!

Shocking price for new vans, i saw a guy review a Transit custom, panel van, not a combi, over 40 grand ! I shopped around for ages to find a reasonable priced low mileage van, and converted it myself, windows, carpeting, insulation, curtains. Very satisfying . Doesn't have to be speced like a 60k T6 camper . Usb powered water pump and portable power station . Sorted.

Im hoping to purchase a base van this year. I'm learning from this site. I'm so pleased I came across your site. My van will be my daily drive. But im hoping in the future that I can use it as a camper. I will be discussing with a reputable conversion company exactly what I require. I require and nit what packages they are offering. Thank you very much. As I said I'm learning the ropes. 😊

lack of parts was down to companies using 'just in time' methods for parts so they dont carry stock

Rubbish. A 10% markup on a 2018 30K van is less in £££'s than a 10% markup on today's same van, now selling at 60k. So yes, they are/have been mugging the punter. The whole market needs a complete reset.

On the bright side, lots of people purchased campervan/motorhomes for the pandemic, lifestyle rush. However, it seems people are wising up snd when you add the cost of living, cost of campsites, cost of fuel and increasing regulation, maybe this is just the start of a market correction and there will be a glut of vans out there that people cannot sell, so will be forced to reduce prices 🤔

One reason why people might say "good enough" for safety aspects of campers that don't technically comply to today's standards is that, say, in 1960 people were driving around in vans with safety standards that were considered acceptable in 1960 (because that was the best standard back then). So the government itself (in 1960) said a 1960 van was good enough for people to use. If they are saying a van using 1960 standards is not safe enough NOW, then why did they say it was safe enough in 1960?
Either the risk assessment results in a low enough risk or not. It's the same vehicle being used for the same purpose, now as back then.

A 1960 safety standard vehicle is as safe now as it was when the government itself was quite happy about it in 1960. It hasn't become LESS SAFE it's just not AS SAFE as a 2024 one because this have improved.
Providing potential improvements doesn't change the fact that a vehicle of yesterday's standard is still as safe as it ever was.

If building to a "less than 2024 but would have been in 1960" isn't acceptable now then they shouldn't have approved it back then either. They should have said back then "1960 safety standards aren't ready for camper vans yet because they're too dangerous. We need to wait until 2024 before people can use them. But they didn't, so why are they now?

Because a lot of people are making a lot of money forcing a lot of other people to comply beyond what was already (officially) accepted. Or where they wrong beck in 1960?

Sure, standards have improved and adopting the new ones has benefits. But that's not the same as saying that something using a 1960 standard MUSTN'T be used now (when it was ok to use it then).

Yeah, pay for a 2 week hotel holiday where they are building another hotel next door. The food is poor, and after 4 days of going out, you've seen everything and eaten out everywhere. F'that I'd rather jump in the motorhome and move 10 miles up the road to somewhere else and explore that for a few days.

The comments blaming "greedy convertors" for "outrageous campervan prices" are made by ignorant people who don't understand basic economics and are unable to grasp how high inflation rips through an entire economy.

Other than consumers themselves, convertors are at the end of a very long and complex supply chain and every player in that chain there has seen significant increases in the cost of doing business (increases in the cost of raw materials, components, energy, staffing, transport, commercial rents and insurance to name aa few), with each player passing those increases on to the next player.

It's not difficult to understand - it's just the inevitable outcome of politicians deciding to pump trillions of pounds into western economies (£450 billion was pumped into the UK economy alone).

It’s not only the van converters who are at fault, the people who are buying these vans are more to blame, because they are pushing prices up by offering more than the vans are worth. These are the same people who did the same to the housing market. And bought second homes or buy to rent, thinking they were making an investment, you are the ones who pushed prices up to beyond crazy prices. You have made it your own problem. Deal with it

I appreciate you telling it as it is, but I always seem to feel the same at the end of your videos, oh my god is it worth bothering I’m going to get ripped off. I’m intending to build my own camper and as an ex carpenter feel I have the skills, but this all seems a bit gloomy. Don’t get me wrong I appreciate knowing that it’s not all roses, but some good news would be nice.

We ordered an autofail exepedition 68 with a pop top and it had 11kg of free space left to add a few cans of beer is this a safe van at nearly 70k I think not

Its not the dealers at fault, its the consumers that are the problem, morons just keeps purchasing ridiculously overpriced products and vehicles, so the dealers rightly conclude that general consumers are fools and fools are easily parted from their money.

Campervans are pointless, cost of these it makes more sense to buy a smaller Motorhome.
