This quick tutorial will teach you how to resize textures and materials in SketchUp.
------------------------------------------------------------------
In today’s SketchUp quick tip, I’m going to teach you how to adjust the size of textures in SketchUp
Pretty much all of a material’s attributes are managed in the materials section of the tray. In this case, we’re going to talk about image based textures.
The way SketchUp creates image based textures is by repeating images over and over to create a continuous looking texture.
If you look at this CMU block texture, you can see repetition of the same image if you look closely enough.
If you look in the edit tab under this material, you can see down at the bottom that there are some dimensions in boxes. In this case, this cinder block texture is a repeating texture 1’6” wide by 8” high.
If we go in and change this, you can see that the texture image size changes in our model. You can use this with photo textures you import to resize texture images so they are to the right scale for your model.
There’s also an image of a chain off to the right of the dimensions. As long as the chain is unbroken, that indicates that the aspect ratio of the texture is locked. This prevents distortion of your image.
If you click on the chain so it appears broken, it unlocks the aspect ratio. This can allow you to stretch your image to change the way that it looks.
If you ever want to reset your texture size, simply click on the arrows to the left hand side of the dimensions.

I’m pleased with what I’ve learned from your channel. My customers often ask me what things are going to look like and I might be the only tradesperson in my town who can illustrate almost anything for them. Thank you.

I have other question, I want the floor texture resize to designate one size maybe 120 * 90mm but I still see the bondary in one camera shot, it will be so odd if I keep on scale to more bigger ... coz some materials were designated the fix size . Any other new ways to figure out it ??

Do you know of a shortcut key that automatically scales a texture to face (polygon)? I have buildings with a ton of windows, and was wondering if there was an easier way to fix the size of the windows per rectangle.

Hello Justin, I'm on a Mac... :( there's no 'edit' tab in the Mac version of SU. Can you do a tutorial on this subject for Mac users?

Hi Justin. I'm a newbe to SU, I have SU Make 2017 just like you are demonstrating, but mine doesn't show a Materials Tab (just Colors). In any case, I see the option there to resize my textures. My version seems to be more limited than yours though, I only have Opacity and Size possibilities to change. No Colorize, no Reset Color, No Use texture image...Plus, when I type in the new sizes, nothing happens! :/ Is that any Preference that is wrong?!
