Considering that I used Ubuntu about five years ago and don't remember much about it, I'm wondering which distribution would be best for a beginner like me. Currently, I have two computers - one running Windows 11 and the other running Windows 10. I'm planning to switch the Windows 10 machine to Linux soon. For embedded developers which one is best

What would you recommend for this application:

I have a USB/Ethernet adapter.. it has an DM9620 ethernet chip. The only "driver" I've found is but nothing for the USB part (VID0A46, PID9621 ).

So what do I need in order to install and call the functions in that file ex. dm_write_eeprom_word()
(BTW, I've seen some use 'ethtool' but how does that tool know that this ethernet chip must be accessed via USB? I imagine some information about the USB mode (ex. CDC) and a register map on how to access the DM9620 would be needed?
