The climate crisis is not just about extreme weather events. It is also about ecological breakdown.

I'm 45 years old. I was first taught about climate change at school in the mid 1980's. The media talks about it like it just started yesterday.

Greed really brought us down to our path. We’ve wasted our future just for money, just to become successful. All that greed just for us to extinct.

I feel like a lot of people talk about the crisis but barely anyone talks about how to prevent it. For example, a lot of people forget that planes are the biggest cause of climate change as they emit CO2 where trees and submarine plants can't absorb it and they also just genuinely emit lots of CO2. A solution is hydrogen planes. This is a solution that has been proven to be possible but no airline has ever invested in it. Then, there's also the meat industry. Cows are a large source of greenhouse emissions so it's better to switch to pork or chicken. A common argument is that people have been eating meat since agriculture began but while it's true, it's not a valid argument because the world population hadn't hit a billion until 1800 and meat was only a wealthy person's food in most countries at the time. That's not the case anymore. However, there is an issue that many people have never really acknowledged (though I did just mention it) which is the world population. The world just isn't supposed to have such a humongous human population. Yes, as awkward as it may sounds, the most important step to reducing emissions is to reduce the world population. It's not a coincidence that Genghis Khan has been named the greenest invader on Earth. After all, our population only reached 1 billion 200 years ago when the industrial revolution started to hit. That's not a coincidence either. Another important aspect is planting trees, which is also good for your mental health and it helps lower the temperatures outside so, regardless of climate change, it should be done.

As long as we still strive for sustainable cities and overall economic growth there is no hope.
Cities and overall economic growth are contradictional with sustainable development.
What we need is the strive for sustainable cities and towns based on local materilistic exchange and global exchange in knowledge.
