Respectfully this video is named incorrectly... It is a 2-5-1 progression but you need to mention it is a 2-5-1 w/ a tritone sub otherwise people will be confused. (As someone who does jazz this took a moment to figure out from your delivery.. too much glossing over). So, when you substitute the 5 have you can to go a half step down from the 2 to a flat 2 to the 1. The reason for those wondering is because of the quality of the 5 chord.. So you can substitute a Dom 5 for the tritone. i.e If you have a 2-5-1 in Cmaj that would make Dmin7, g dom7 C maj 7. But you can also do Dmin 7, C# Dom 7, then C maj. The reason is because the 3rd and the 7th of both the C#dom 7 and G dom 7 are the same.. And C# and G are tritones. Hopefully this provides some clarity to what he is doing..
