5 Reasons Why Old Cars Are Better Than Modern Cars

Sure, new cars are great! They have amazing speed, horsepower, comfort, style, and more improvements then you can shake a stick at. However, there are some real reasons that #old #cars are better than #new cars. I'm going to walk through 5 and by the end, you might just want to go pick up a bit of an older car. We'll talk about reliability, but we'll talk about things like transmissions, the types of engines in these cars, and more.

You forgot 6th reason: All new cars look the same.

Has anyone noticed old cars are still running after 30 40 or even 50 years while you find newer cars in the scrap yard within 5 to 10 years?

Naturally aspirated petrol engine + manual transmission = perfect combo 🤩

Younger generations will never know the pleasure of a beautiful day driving down a canyon road with the top down in a manual 5 speed and not a care in the world.

New cars are just computer on wheels. When any major electronics break, there is no chance you can fix it, even if you are some electronics repair whiz, because the custom integrated chips cannot be sourced.

Modern cars have become the victim of corporate culture only the designated company like, Mazda, honda or Chevy could fix them but old cars were easily self repairable, I love my Honda civic 1986 model.

Technology has pretty much made newer cars disposable.

Older cars don't come with payments. That puts them in the number 1 spot.

YES! Spot on! You could work on the older cars yourself, and you could do it right. You did not need special diagnostic/programming electronic tools that cost five figures or more.
In my college years I drove a Volvo 240. That rig was simple yet indestructible. I was 19 years old, and I performed full service on that ride - engine oil, transmission fluid, rear differential oil, brakes, spark plugs, everything. It was so simple to maintain. It lasted 351000 miles before it sacrificed itself to save my life. I walked away from a collision at 40MPH. A minivan had run a red light and I plowed right into it. After the collision, the driver's door opened as usual, and I walked away with just a seatbelt rash. I will never forget that shiny black 240. What a car!

To add to this, modern all-electronic cars will never be collectible-they will be impossible to repair 20+ years from now. The modules will be discontinued, and no one will stock spares. You can easily maintain a carburated car from the 1960s-you would be able to do this on a 2015 car in 2055,

In Europe the G20 can be had with a manual in the 318d and 320d.
I really miss the old inline 6 cylinder engines, both Diesel and Petrol. The 525d in the E39 was just awesome and couldn't be killed!
I also do appreciate you reading all the comments! ❤

I love my Audi 80. Even if it has 90hp, it sounds great, is really comfortable and looks great. Everything easy to fix

Old school cars for me. Nothing beats the experience of driving a manual. You were in total control of the car...nowadays cars control you 😔😔😔

Also the problem with newer cars, is that the manufacturers are designing their cars to last the 8 years of ownership that is average in the U.S. People are driven by comfort, and are very wasteful.
