It's usually cheaper just to look up your car model and get a Android radio that has wireless carplay. They form fit to your car and are usually like $200

personally id get a carplay unit that replaces the radio in the center dash. it wires directly into the car for power and audio, leaving the charging port for your phone, and then it also doesn't shake

If you were to buy this, and then mod it, so it uses USB to charge instead of cigarette port. you could essentially use it as a tablet that uses your phone as a hotspot and needs to always be connected to power

For CarPlay, I’d rather it be a replacement for the old head unit in the dash like in a 12 Camry but there is so much that is hardwired into the system and I’m not good at electrical stuff at all

I installed a CarPlay head unit in my older car then I just bought a new Lexus cause I drove an old car from the time I learned to drive and saved up to buy it

I just bought a Pioneer DMH-1770NEX for my 2003 Honda Civic LX and it works perfectly. I can listen to music wirelessly through Bluetooth but using apps like google maps, Waze, pandora, etc. requires me to plug my phone in. No biggie for me since it keeps my phone charged at all times via usb cable and I have Hands Free calling. Win Win for me since it replaced my factory unit which had a CD player compartment with AM/FM radio which I got tired of listening to going or coming home from work.

just buy a screen that fits for the same price plus with a nice backup camera as a bonus 👍🏼

Yeah I’d don’t really get the separate piece screen just replace the unit itself and have someone install it, should be E tech guys in local shops that will charge lower cost, I checked at my local automotive electronics department shop and they said they could run a quote based off more details needed from me and I told them and showed them the kit I got and gave me a quote for 235 for the install and boy was it worth it, rear camera and blindspot detection, 360 panorama sensing and rear and dash cam!! Sooo worth it, my cars basically a modern car, 2011 Accord 2 DOOR coupe and boy does she fly!!!

This guy sucks. I bought this gadget for my Ford model T and there was no cigarette lighter port. He lied and said it would work on any car, regardless of how old it is.

just install a new radio it only takes a pry bar, wiring harness, butt adapters and the radio itself, granted it was a cheap radio, but installing it only cost me 62 bucks cause it was just a simple single radio with bluetooth on it
