Hee Tom, have you seen the the podcast of Joe Rogan with Mathew Walker? He is a sleep scientist and it’s a very informative podcast, he also has a book about sleep its absolutely fascinating! Definitely recommending it

I've been sticking to the blue light filter rule for years now and it works well. I always fall asleep within 5 minutes of lying down

Nice video thanks :). I came to same conclusions you mentioned. I added to the coffee step also alcohol. Alcohol is anesthetic, so I can fall asleep faster, but quality of sleep is significantly worse. I would add 6th step, probably obvious one - reduce stress. I'm currently changing jobs because of this. I cannot sleep because of all the things I have to remember during day, deadlines, conflicts and silly people.

Funny that you mention the power of when! I made an animation summarizing that book. Solid tips, another one is mouth taping which can do wonders for those who breathe through their mouth during sleep.

No need to complicate this stuff. I was sleep deprived through all my 20s and most of my 30s.

Now at age 37 I’ve been sleeping for 8 hours a night for just the last fortnight and my anxiety, irritability, forgetfulness, and negative thoughts have pretty much dried up.
I can think so much more clearly and actually live a better life, all from just sleeping. It’s so easy. Anything less than 7 hours - you’re screwing your self. If you think to yourself “I’m fine with less than that” you’re wrong and you don’t realise it.

If you have any doubts about sleep’s importance - listen to Matthew Walker’s podcast appearance on Joe Rohan. That was my lightbulb moment 💡

Instead of advising a magnesium supplement, why not just eating more foods that are high in magnesium? Legumes, nuts, seeds, bananas and leafy greens are high in magnesium!

Hey Tom,
nice video, very helpful!! I have a question though. I think my sleep is pretty ok this far, but some how i can't sleep besides a partner or any other person.
It makes my sleep very light and unsettled. I also tend to wake up a lot. Do you have any recomandations?
